ok here is the question.  can a wireless modem get a virus.  because a few weeks ago i setup a quick wireless network with my stepdad and then after that my computer started to run strange.  well the cable got temporally turned off and now the computer is now running faster online.  and when i say it ran strange it was like this, i was not able to refresh this site and it not show that all the topics were read all the time.  and then when i would go to check my mail it wouldnt let me sign in sometimes or it would not do all the basic deleting or moving functions.  so anyway can a wireless modem get a virus?

almost forgot wifi is great.  ;D

If your on the net with a wired router, Direct wire to DSL/CABLE Modem, Wireless Router, ect , you can get a Virus no matter what, If your online your online, so always use ani virus software, I use a couple differnt ones.  ==np

The wireless router it's self cannot get a virus but your computer can even though you are accessing the internet VIA wireless. If you are experiencing problems with speed, web pages loading ect ect I would reset the modem and set it all up again as there is probably a setting that is not right. Wireless routers are 54mb and that is much faster than any internet currently available so the router will not slow down your surfing experience. That does not mean you are going to get 54mb speed your speed will depend on your internet service. What kind of router did you get?

thank you for your response.  the router that we got is the what i think is the bottom of the line netgear that we got through comcast.  and im starting to think it is a virus from my stepdads computer.  and last i did mean to say router, not modem.

I agree with disturban, Its probably not the router, but reset the router and try it again, if thats not it i would say start the computer in safe mode and do a virus scan that way..... Another ? is ur wireless network secure??? or can the neighbors get on it? just a ?, because if somebody outside ur house is on ur network they could introduce a virus to your network......
