I agree with you...............but I normally dont bait..............my luck I'd get caught..........unlike my uncle whos done it and never got caught.

Anymore, I dont dont go out of my way to get a deer (I'm not a diehard hunter)..........so if I get one, then its a plus. Either way I enjoy being out in the woods, hunting, seeing deer.........and in the evening, sittin around the campfire enjoying a ice cold Bud Light and little good smoke, and talking about shitt with my dad or uncles and cousins.

i agree except for i really enjoy the taste of venison jerky kinda hard to make with out a deer so i will usually take the first descent sized deer that walks by doe or buck

I have an honest question....with baiting being illegal why do they let people around here sell bagged carrots? Isn't that what the carrots are for???  Honest question...just asking

Runinhott

I just put up a sign by my bait pile that says This bait is for turkeys only all other animals caught eating from it will be shot on sight! LOL

It's not illegal to sell carrots.. honest answer..

just like speeding.. it's illegal to drive 100 mph down the highway..
but most every vehicle on the road can travel in excess of that, not illegal to sell them.

you shot what is legal in your area. where i hunt state land in roscommon there are NO doe premits this year. i am out to shot bucks and only bucks. havent got a doe permit for 4 years and been trying all 4 for them.. Cant shot what isnt legal,
u can always take a doe with a bow i did every year they taste better than bucks mmmmmmmmm

I wouldent mind taking a doe, but i really go hunting to get away from the drama of the city. I like to sit in the woods think, day dream, and watch all the animals play. If bambi walks in front of me and is legal well ill shot at it, Deer to me aint a necessity, its all luck.

They look good on the wall and you still get the meat. As for doe tasting better all you got to do is hit them in the heart so they bleed out and I bet you couldn't tell the difference.

I live in an area where deer are heavily overhunted, and mostly by idiots from the city that come up north just looking for a trophy (cant count the number of carcasses Ive found that just have the head and cape taken, with all the meat left to waste) or with the 'if its brown its down' mindset, so deer in general are few and far between, shootable bucks even fewer and farther, so without SOMETHING to attract deer, your odds of filling your freezer are pretty low unless you are using bait or foodplots (which arent an option for me or many in my local area, seeing as how most of us hunt on state land, which is a lot like taking your life into your own hands anymore).
