nice job man!!!   applaudd  looks bad ass in the school...  bet it was fun to do

dfm_13

yea thanks. yesterday i took the leafs off the s-10 frame and moved them to the durango frame....well the rear ones at least. i may work on the front ones today but i have to weld in some brackets for them...finally starting to do the real work

dfm_13

we cut the rear petches off and moved them out so they line up with the new frame and leafs. we got the rear all mocked up today. i need to get a drive shaft though before i can weld the perches on it so i can check my angles......

dfm_13

alright well i was board today and all of the steel yards were closed this weekend so i couldnt work on the front end so i put the rear tires on just for fun

That axle looks good in there, keep up the good work. Cant wait to see it done

well we were sitting there looking at the t case we were thinking about how bad the front ds angle would be and we noticed a little thing,,,,the bolt holes were all spaced 3.5 inches which allowed for a 90* flip.

this will get out tcase about 8 inches lower so our angle should be pretty good now. the front ds should be about 42"s long.we are goin to pick up some steel tomorrow so that we can get the front leafs all mocked up. we actually re did the rear and put the other more arched leaf springs in the rear. the ones that we had in it (in the pics above) are longer and we decided those would work better in the front.

dfm_13

i just need to make a new cross member for the trans and tcase so the front ds wont hit and re work the linkage

michigan maniac

the only thing to remember with clocking a tcase is oiling issues, most people will run whatever lube ur tcase calls for and some lucas to help keep the upper half lubed up.. ==wgm
Fat chicks welcome IT'S A 2 1/2 TON!!

dfm_13

yea the pump is bellow the oil line still, and we figured that it would get some splash lubrication. the breather is high enough too. do you think that it will be ok like that? we also though since it wont be hitting high speeds that we may over fill it a little. or is that not a good idea?

Colorado

That's sweet and musta been fun as shitte getting that thing in the school (Now THAT'S how you do it!!) Oh and I vote for the name "Big 3" also.

sounds like you should be aight... maybe fill it like normal then add a quart of lucas to it to help the upper bearings stay lubed up!!

alright yea that is a pretty good idea i may just have to do that

dfm_13

alright sorry for the long time on the updates......the cab is almost ready to go on. we have everything all welded in. the driveshafts are made and are in. the divorced tcase is mounted. we now have 2 tcases it was the only way to have the front ds work and i didnt have a tailshaft to replace the 1st tcase so we kept it. so now we can have granny gears. the gas tank has been relocated bumpstops are on just not in these pics. the shifter linkage for the 2nd tcase is made......i feel like there is more but i cant remember.

what does you guys think?

dfm_13

well i have been very lazy when it comes to updating this.....but i have been bust a$$ on the truck.

and this was pretty cool we had a cut off wheel explode and it hit my radiator and it started to leak all over the floor.the picture is after we fixed it.we just crimped the ends and soldered them. my day also got hit with the wheel he has a nice gash in his arm and leg but hes alright. i just need to do breaks and it will be fully functional. there is still a long list of things that need to be done though. let me know what you all think

dfm_13

by the way this was the trucks first drive today

yea they worked good. the front has a little too much play for my liking i think the u joints are bad but ill just have to check them. but that is easy work, in the video i posted i didn't get on it to hard cause not all the body mounts are on it but it felt really peppy even in low low. ( i didnt wanna go to fast cause of the lack of breaks lol ) i am going to do a disk break conversion though.
