im gettin ready to do a sas on my 93 ext cab chevy i have a couple questions. can i use the old style steering box if i locate it in the right spot so i dont have to get a cross over steerin kit. next question is will a t case off a 91 suburban match up with my 4l60 it was a half ton burb with a 700r4

91 k1500

if your gonna drive it on the road at all I would save up and do the cross over steering..... and yes the t-case should work. i believe bothe transmissions had a 32 spline output shaft. a 4l60 is basicly an electronicly controled 700r4....

yes the tcase will bolt to the trans, they both have 27 spline outputs. But your current shifter won't work it's on the wrong side so you'll have to deal with that too.

As for the steering, do like the other said and wait to do the swap till you've gathered all the parts to do it right.

Something no one has mentioned is you can take off the tie rod end pitman arm and bolt on pretty much any other regular pitman that was on a Saginaw box.  I ended up using a Jeep pitman off a box I had laying around.  It splines on perfect and is right on for cross over.

I've also included pics of my cross over on my '97.  I'm a budget guy and didn't want to throw down the $$$$ for high steer arms and all the machining.  It was easy to build and works perfectly.  Lock to lock steering, no bump steer, clears the leaf springs easily(just be sure to use minimum of 0.120 wall DOM, otherwise you may run into flexing problems.........learned that one the hard way.)  At worse it may give you some ideas on how to build your cross over.
