You do know you can twin stick the 205 so you can run it in 2wd or front wheel drive. You can do it pretty cheap too

will it be street legal?

Not sure, Depends on the state rules and regulations, I'll have to look into it. If I just need the basics It should be no problem. But , If they want blinkers, Wipers, bumpers, ect. I don't know if I'll do it.

How do you plan on getting you driveshaft rotation right?  What wheelbase is it?
Using Toyota Axles, The pigs can be flipped to the top and that reverses the rotation. The only negative about using the np205 t-case is that, when its in 2wd, it will be front wheel drive. The rear output on the t-case drives the front wheels and the front output drives the rear wheels. shouldn't matter too much, it's built to be 4x4.
twin stick the 205,  nice project Stan.

BAD APPLE

i think you just need to fallow what dune buggy needs to be street legal its kinda the same thing

Frame started as a legends frame but has been hacked up pretty good, I'ts been widened, Lengthened, and chopped. I ended up just building a straight frame to work off and I have been building as I go. The wheel base is right about 9' 6" or 114" but may change if necessary.

Great !  Project looks like fun.

or leave it in 4wd and unlock the front hubs ?????

Blackout

Dana 300. Lighter, lower gear, strong, and very easy to twin stick for full frt  and rear isolation. Plus less distance between out puts if centered pinion is desired. Cool build for sure.
Throttle in and have no doubt!
