Got the d60 and 14ff axles in the k5.  Everything all hooked up.  Went to leave my buddys to take it home and test drive for 1st time. Well got onto main road and at about 30mph it wobbles like a S.O.B.  re alligned in the garage took it out again, got up to 45 then it wobbles so bad it kills the motor.  All steering and tie rod ends are brand new.  Used a 3inch steering block.  Gonna put on stock tires and try to reallign.  Were toeing in 8*.  Would that cause wobble????  The steering wheel stays straight in my hand.  And all bearings look to be new also.  HELP!

it could also be the tires im having the same problem and ive narrowed it down to them and my steering stabilizer shock
lowriders are for little boys who cant get it up

Jjay78

check the steering stabelizer shock man we've had that happen before and that was the problem

I don't think its the tires...they have balance beeds in them, and there the same tires n rims that were on b4 the swap, when I had 3/4 tons.

un hook one end and see how easy it is to move by hand, it should go slow and not be easy to move fast at all

jack it up. grab the tire at 12 and 6 oclock, and try to move it in and out. ill bet its the lower kingpins...

Blazin40s

Tried that... no play in tire when I wiggle it.

With king pins and the springs in them I doubt you'd be able to tell by hand.

when i had the 44s on the jeep, i could get enough leverage to move the tire a good amount. maybe mine are just really shot ???

MR NASTY

I believe the rebuild kits are 55 a side. Small price to pay for piece of mind on something that sees the road. Run a tape of  to verifiy the rear axle is aligned also.

Well i got a good question, why is it that older dodges are supposed to have death wobble. that a dana 60? My dana 60 did and the guy who bought it said its realy bad but king pins look awsome?
is it a something we could adjust? shouldnt have to have a steering stablizer if its correct aliment.

Blazin40s

Gonna go try again in a couple hrs.  Got a new stabilizer, and were gonna try to allign with stock tires so the tool will fit better.  This stiff is so aggervating.

Yes bias ply, but there the exact same setup rims and all as when I was running my ten bolt front.  I had the tires mounted and balanced at belle tire.  They have the balance beads in them

Now you have that Jeep Thing & you understand....
might have to rotate the Pinion angle to get some more caster if the King Pins are good. I would replace them anyway just so you know pretty easy cheep fix. & peace of mind if it is a DD.

Be sure to replace the track bar bushings with Energy Susp. Poly units No rubber.
