Breaking tire off bead?

run them over ,but dont  catch the rim, may use a board as a ramp on the tire or steel. there a few ways of doing it, but its hard work either way

long slide hammer with a tire spoon on the end to get under the lip of the rim, or for tractor tires use a special mechanical wedge that u use an impact to drive in, its pretty easy if u have access to the tools, my dad is a farm tire repair man so its easy to do if u where closer i would have done them cheap

I do not suggest this method, it does not work.




and sometimes running them over dont work, you can try two trucks and sometimes that still dont work...

driving on them didnt work. but we did get them off today thanks for your help guys.

I had a lowboy with the valve core removed, ran it over with the dd and nothing. The darn thing acted like it was holding pressure too!

i use our hoist with a car or truck on it works great

we used an air grinder once. very messy, very nasty. very difficult. but it did work! 2x4 and a truck usually works pretty good, but maybe soak the beads in some WD or something for a couple days

The duckbill sledge, PB blast. It NEVER fails. Just gotta keep hittin it. Plenty of lube and use the right angle, it WILL come apart. Ive pounded on some off and on for several days, it will come apart sooner or later.

I use a high lift farm style jack

lay the tire down and use the bumper of the truck and the jack , has worked on everything from a 33" to  44" ...only ever had 2 tires give me a struggle

Im trying to break down my 40 gumbos off the rims they are currently on. ive been using a bumper jack and on the last 2 tires they wont break off the bead. i have the whole front of my truck off the ground and it still wont come off.      Does any one have any other tricks or tip to breaking them down?

Just keep hittin it Ive done thousands upon thousands of tires big and small, and NEVER had one I couldnt get apart sooner or later one way or the other, and most of them just needed hit a few more times than I felt like doin..I don't recommend this but you can soften the rubber if you pour gasoline around the bead and let it soak in, do that several times, but dont hit it with the hammer when its wet with gas because it can spark and start a fire. You have to let it dry or blow it dry with the air hose before you go back to hittin it or usin the jack or whatever, also make sure your hands or any other part of you dont have any gas on them or youll burn your head off. This is dangerous and use only as last resort!

I had two stock tires that I could not get off the rims, We tried everything you could think of and still. I ended up just regular taking them in and having the taken off cost like 10 bucks.

walmart has free dismounts, works good just gotta watch the idiots! but i couldnt get mine off and the tire shop took alot of time workin on it! the tire was non directional 1100x20 rollaround the date stamp said 195? year wow? and lots of rust but it came off, eventually. just gotta make my rims, as soon as I get a nice day, heck still gotta finish painting!
