Does it do that even on flat level ground? At low rpm..? When does it seem to happen the most? I'm thinkin its either runnin out of fluid in a tilt, or its got dirt or a bad o-ring/seal/valve in the orbit part..

Captn. J

how do i clean or flush it out?

to clean the valve its all gotta be torn down... pain in the mooner     lotta little parts!    is the fluid looking frothy at all? resivour is probably too small.. running outta fluid

Captn. J

frothy?   explain that .   and yeah i m thinking too small but i m running it with tranny cooler to get some more fluid

is it all pink and bubbly.. does it over flow all the time?  like if you shake up a soda...     called cavitation, when fluid gets low and it forces air into the fluid.. makes the hydraulics spongy, no response, can end up killing the pump in no time...

Captn. J

yeah its pink n bubbly ... other than tranny cooler   what can i use? i guess i ll give that ac consendsor another try to see if i can fit it in there  ... thanks   the ac consender s like 4 times bigger than what my tranny cooler is

hit up a few scrap yards.. on some GM vans, and big blocks  they ran an extra resivour for the power steering... i run a radiator hose up from the top of the pump, to the extra resivour.. you'll get another 2qt in the hose, and another half quart in the resivour..  you'll have to do some "low income engineering" to get the radiator hose to fit snugly. few small pieces of hose over each other should work. You will need to block off the return line on the PS pump itself, and route it up to the extra resivour.

Once ya get that done.. jack up the front , WITH THE ENGINE OFF and steer back and forth a couple dozen times..    i reccomend doing this after it has been sitting for a while, couple days maybe.... This will let the air trapped in the cylinder and valve escape without forcing it back in by running the pump.

Heres a picture for refernce from when i was tearing my s10 apart...

Eroq is tellin ya right, and looks like hes been down this road before - Id go with what hes sayin there ;D

i m havbing problem again   i thought i fixed it but  i took it out for the first mudbog it steer like a byTch  ...  new powers teering pump and almost 1 gallon resevior and i still cant steer  , i m thinking i have a bad  hydro ram?  will that be a problem?

what do you mean ???   still doing the same t hing?     your valve has 4 ports right?  does it have a 5th port on the side? probably blocked off?

what size diameter cylinder are you running? and what size tires?

Captn. J

small  cylinder that i got it with ... maybe need a bigger cylinder . i dont see any 5th port. i ll check and my tires re about 40-42's

looks like a tiny cylinder.. like 1 1/2 or 2"    i'd try steppin up to a 2 1/2" or 3"   it'll be a world of difference!   Some valves had a 5th port which is a drain, valve leakage comes out of it, if its plugged it'll feel like its binding up.

larger cylinder will have more force, you'll run less pressure and be easier on the pump. not to mention you wont have to fight the wheel to turn!

Captn. J

ok thats what i m gonna do   get a bigger cylinder .  i just checked   just 4 ports  no 5th ones

Did you mod the pump for more pressure? I used a cylinder off a combine and it worked awesome. Never ran a cooler or a reservoir.
