Don't own a farm but just put the kids in 4H this year and now we have 4 piggies.  A whole new expierence for me that is for sure.   I have only owned dogs and cats and the occasional fish tank here and there.

I may also try getting rabbits for my niece to show at the fairs around here.

was thinkin about raizin up some swine but i can go buy one butchered wrapped and in my freezer cheaper   20 pound pigs went for 62 bucks apeice at the marllette stock yard  straight run hogs went for 1.65 a pound  im no genios but thats pretty simple math there

i personally shy away from buying live stock from marlette there have been alot of diseases runnin threw there and we have encountered aalot of sick animals from there. find a local pig farmer and work out a deak with him you can get them cheap

Ive seen turkeys around chickens, but its my understanding its not a good idea, the turkeys carry diseases that the chickens cant handle very well. My information is from long ago, things might be different now with all these new medications.

thats what ive done in the past  but all the guys around here are contracted to raise em and still want too much money and ive always gotten the runts   i did find one guy locally that ive been fixin fence and other things up for and can get some 100 pounders for a  reasonabll  price

get yourself a few sows and a boar and have some piglets you would provide food and still be able to make money selling the sows

I used to have chickens when I was a kid, "Rhode Island Reds"

Had some chickens in 08 at my property but Coons killed em, and then I trapped the coons....so no more chickens, but I'd like to get some more though.
