been hearing alot of stories about people having constant issues with 1 ton calipers hanging up.  also  switching to 3/4 ton calipers  drops  roughly 50 lbs off the front end. (atleast thats  what i been reading on other sites from people htat have done this switch)  doesnt seem like a lot  but  thats 50 lbs less on something that already weighs a ton.

plus  i have to buy all the brake parts anyways for my 60  so i figured i could spend the 110 on the conversion brackets  and just run the 3/4 ton stuff i already have.   saves me some money

good idea . what about the rear you converting that to calipers

I took my front brakes off to clear my rims lol it took about 50lbs off... and I use 1/2 ton dana 44 calipers on the rear stops good for a bogger,

Never had any issues with my fronts locking up.  And I put about 6000 miles on it so far, and about 10bogs.  My pads still look pretty new too.  I love the breaking power of the one tons.   I do wanna do the rear disc conversion tho.

everything i heard about hte front brakes is coming from the guys that run them in the mud  all the time.   the 60 im puttin together  is going in a truck  that never sees the road.  only time it  might is the mile or 2  to the dunes from the camp ground if i ever take it there.

if its a offroad only truck put rear disks on it and use the line for the front brakes and it will stop good! then you dont need any front brake weight.... its how my truck has been set up for like 5-6 years...

ill pass on that.  i want  brakes all around on it.  cuz i dont do just play bogs with it.   just like this winter ill be runnin at  schuss mt again  as long as we get some good snow up there.  and i wanna beable to hold myself on the line and get the rpms up.   had a hard time gettin any rpms up last year with only front brakes

My brakes work way better on my dana 60 with brakes wore out than my dana 44's and corporates ever thought of. I personally wouldn't trade it for a few pounds anyday.

My point is that the d60 breaks are good enuff to do both.  I don't trailor my rig, I take it out and beat the heck outta it, then drive it home and use the breaks all the way home.

I just like being able to stop.  I don't really understand the whole degrading the breaks thing.  I've run with only fronts, and I stop waaayyy better with one ton breaks all the way around
