Im just getting a game plan and pricing the project out (Generously  :P )

On my next truck project, I would like to get a 4 link suspension, axles will be rockwell 2.5 tons. I would love to run 50 inch tractor tires on it, with a dual tcase setup.
What im curious on is what shocks to use, ive been told coil over shocks, i have seen some with just shocks w/reservoirs. Wheres a good place to shop? Brands important? Also is it just a lift the truck, put the axle where you want it, and figure out the 4 link bars out then? Or is there a special way to design it?

Also, pinion breaks, I'm currently taking machine shop so i could probably make my own brackets, but wheres a cheap place to get brake parts?

Already have axles and tcase, just saving for the truck!

Thanks for the help!
I don't got much, but i'm still happy with that little bit!

Start reading on pirate4x4.com

Also, there is a 4link calculator that you can download.

Put a little thought into it and you will love the setup.  Just cobble it together and you will not like it.

Oh, and it's not cheap to do it right.  That's why mine is still on leaves.  Way cheaper.

ive seen better built mud rigs like your wanting with face frames and coil springs, limiter straps triple shocksw/ towers... ect......its alot of work with a welder but in the end its protecting tcase, shaft angle will be better, also you can easily mock up four link bars with huge johnny joints. custom is the way to go, deturr from what everyone else always does!! my opionion...goodluck!!

Dont be afraid of a 4 link.  I am running 2.5 tons with a 4 link.  I figured out how high i wanted the car to set and welded the axles under it with angle iron.  Then I drew out the axles, frame height and mounting points of the suspension to scale on graph paper to be sure my angles of the link bars were what they needed to be.  I used a set of directions i found on petersons offroad website, very helpful.  A degree finder and tape measure will be your best friend
