What the compression on the motor without the blower

12:1
6.7" pink rods

I have another set of flat top pistons for it, that would probably be better for the street and lower compression. But like I said, I'm on a time frame, so I'll just run like 3-5lbs boost. I could even underdeive the blower and run lower pounds to make me happy with MPGs.

In the boat I have a stock 454 with mild hydraulic roller cam running 9lbs on a 6-71. And it's pretty good on gas cruising alll day long. But if you hot rod it, then yea, it sucks the fuel.

That's what I was thinking. But that's how the motor came stock from GM (I think)
But like I said, I have another set of lower comp pistons. When we got the motor it was pretty well built from GM. Then we modified it with a little more cam, longer roller rockets, stud girdle, rods and crank.

The motor was featured in the 1976 2nd addition Chevrolet Power manual.

you could run a blower but wouldnt go over 3 psi that would bring your compression ratio up to 14:1 but then you need to run racing fuel like 110-114 octane. you dont wanna go over 12:1 on high octane pump gas.

I would advise against it but to each there own lol, Im runnin around 9-10 psi on my motor and have  a 14:1 ratio but it adds up in gas fast lol

Yea I was planning on keeping it 3-5Lbs. And I could change the pistons on a rainy day. But the heads are from another motor. The heads are ported, flowed, and cnc'd. Harder valve seats. Roller lifters, springs matched to the valve train.

And I know what you mean when running 10lbs WFO = empty tanks

But I chose a blower so I have that instant off the line power and boost. And hell, to me it looks cooler than p00 with the scoop and belts through the hood.
