And now i see people saying "everyone should have to right to carry guns" in michigan you do, but must unload it when entering  vehicle.  Plus if "every" person carryed a gun truthfully how many of them people would have the balls to pull it out? I'm sure some of you remember the little 6 yr old girl that was shot and killed at buell elementary school about 12 years ago.  The school was about 3 blocks from where I lived and the 6 yr old shooter was my crack dealing neighbors nephew, thats where the boy got the gun.

on the other hand if you are open carrying a pistol, whoevers aiming a gun at you is more likely to shoot ya.  Either way thats some BS. Hope they find the people who did it n shootem. I would say lockem away but now days prisoners live better lifes than the rest of us.

YES. michigan is an open carry state. as long as its holstered, and FULLY VISIBLE. and of course your not drunk, doin drugs, etc. BUT, when you get into your car, you must unload it, and lock it in a case for transportation, unless you have a CPL, Concealed Pistol License.

I open carry on my property.. and have had the cops stop me..
I am absolutly convinced if I am not on my property I WILL be talking to them cause some

is his statement in writing somewhere? or on tape? a copy of it sent to the michigan attorney general would cost the captn' his job.

look up msp update #86. it is the state police and attorney generals legal opinion of OC .open carry is legal in michigan. if you have done nothing illegal being arrested for "something" is a civil rights violation . you will win a lucrative lawsuit. there are several cases going on right now, civil lawsuits the legally armed citizen will and do win.
theres also many cases of officers getting reprimanded or even fired for harrassing oc ers, do not let them bully you.

on your own property you dont even have to give id to an officer. ESPECIALLY if they say they stopped becuase of the gun.
if there is no reasonable suspicion a crime is being commited they have no right to detain you. a gun is not RS, or probable cause.
michigan has a pre emption law, no local branch of govornment. city, town, or county can restrict gun posession. this includes openly carrying a firearm. this has been tested many times by cities and townships and they always loose.

michigan is an oc state. it is also a right to carry state. if you apply for a cpl and meet the criteria as far as past legal trouble you will get your cpl/

now if you decide to oc and think your going to have an encounter it is always best to have a voice recorder with you. most cell phones can be set to do it with the push of a button.   michigan is also a "single party consent" state meaning only one party in a conversation needs to give permision to be recorded. you do not have to notify them if there on tape. a recorded copy of an officer telling you that
you will be arrested for something just for doing something tottaly legal is a threat and an abuse of power.

that would be his own fault if they got away with it. you may have to pay a lawyer to fight an illegal charge, educate yourself, visit oc. org, some even carry a copy of msp #86
if your going to open carry be prepared to defend yourself from the gestapo police that think they can make up the laws as they go.
i open carry daily. ive had ONE person actually say something and they wanted to know if they could do it LOL
