mechanical speedo to electronic

is there an easy way to swap an electrical speedo sensor on a 241 case onto a mechanical speedo's 241 case? i didnt realize an 89 k5 still used a mechanical speedo even tho the trucks were all electronic. is it just a shaft sensor swap? or do i gotta swap the whole output shafts? im tearing em both down as this is posted....

so you want to convert your 241's manual speedo to an electric one?  Can I ask  why??  whats wrong with the current setup? 


I had a similar problem......my 90 K5 blazer had a swapped in 208 which is mechanical.........and for the 90 model year that was the 1st year they used the electronic speedo in K5's and burbans. SO....my speedo guage didnt work, and wouldnt work with the older Np208.

I ended up buying a Np241 from a 90-91 blazer/burban.......to solve my problem.


I believe somebody on here did tell me you can get a kit to convert it over. But I dont remember who, and the posting is 5/6 months old...if its still there.

I have an 89 case that needs to go into a 92 truck. The only kits ive found that could are SYE kits. Cuz the pumps are clocked differently in the tailshaft housings cuz of where the pickup tube is. I figured out a way to make it all work i think. Kind of a pain in the ass but Ill post pics on my build thread
