I have forgot about you guys.  Here is an update over the last year and a half.

I tore the motor apart and found that 7 of the 8 pistons all broke in the same spot.  They broke off the ring land between #1 and #2 rings, top side, about a 30 degree section.  Very odd.  This caused me to bore it so now, i'm rocking a 406.

I did make it to the mud run I mentioned in September, but I borrowed an engine.  It was a good running 355 Vortec, but just a street motor.  It didn't have the power The Impaler needs.

I had a lot of rubber necking happening when I rolled through town to go to the mud run.

I did get the engine back together early spring of '13.  I only made it to 3 mud runs for 2013, but had a ton of fun.  The Impaler is an attention whore, everybody seems to like it and they want to ride in it.  To start the year off, I entered it in a Car Show.  I got 2nd place in the Off Road Class

First Mud Run was a blast.  It was nice to have the power compared to last Sept.  No broken parts = success....

Second Mud run was just for fun, no money on the line.  It was Mudfest at the Kansas Badlands.  They have a mud pit, hill-n-hole, atv riding, mud volleyball, several different activities going on.  Always a good time.  Again, it was an Attention Whore.

They also have a "horse shoe race"  You drive through the mud pit backwards, loop around a barrel and hit the hill-n-hole.  Here's my run.

So, after 2 axle shafts, upper and lower ball joint, new brake line, we were good to go.
No pics of the 3rd mud run, but I was in the pit twice and broke twice.  It has sat for the winter needing a new fly wheel, so it won't take much to get it going again.

Right now my project car is a Rat Rod.  i'm building a '26 Essex, 4dr, custom frame, 440 powered, air bags.  So the Impaler will not be getting to many upgrades unless something breaks.
