was talking to a buddy and he showed me an idea on a way to get more lift and a softer ride....anyone have any experience with either a 1/4 or a 3/4 eliptical lift? we looked at some pics of jeeps n scouts n stuff with em, but i just wana get some first hand experience with it... ride quality, any big issues? any major disadvantages??? any info would be great...  ==wgm

I have never installed one, and never will......the idea floated around in my head for a while, but all it is 1 leaf spring cut down and mounted up higher on the frame. I would imagine there would be quite a bit of bounce if driving on the road, unless you got some really good shocks. also from what I could find everyone ends up using a 3 or 4 link set up to hold the axle in place...... with that being said for a few dollars more.... I mean a few dollars more not hundreds.... you can get coil springs and be done with it. IMHO  coils are the way to go and this eliptical lift method of getting more flex is really just the poor mans way or backyard way.   Yet coils are much more reliable and ride quality is just fine, Id say way better than leafs.

I've only seen em with one, same with the kits, but Im sure you could put a couple extra in there to stiffen it up

I.agree coils would be easier and better ride quality,  you don't see elliptical suspension on vehicles from the factory for a reason !!

ive wanted to do one in a truck, but only in an offroad only one. im not sure if id like the ride quality of it let alone load carrying capabilities in a street truck. it might take some time to get the right spring pack setup for the way you would want it to ride....
