Had a piece of metal in my finger since Monday, swelling up now...time to go! I remember something, I believe it was bar soap on a band aid? Anyone know any tricks?

pantyhose works sometimes. find an exacto blade, or real sharp knife and do some garage surgery. longer its in there, the worse it will get

I cut down pretty far with fingernail clippers, can't see it, don't know what direction to cut...ugh. don't like cutting my own skin!

Youll have to man up and cut it out then peroxide it 4-5x a day. Get it out before it rusts up and you get blood poisoning.

yep when I get metal slivers... I try to cut em out myself.... If that fails  I give it a few days for it to sometimes work itself back to the surface..... If that fails and it looks like it might start getting infected I go see the doc....

I'm pretty sure you don't have to worry about it rusting up in ya... unless it was rusty when it went in then ya could get tetanus,  but if it was clean metal then it wont rust.... metal needs oxygen to rust :)

Theres oxygen in there. With time it will rust, had one in my eye and it rusted.

Ive used Drawing salve too.  My wife gets it at rite aid.  Put some on and cover with a band aid overnight.  Should help draw  it to the surface

Soap in a band aid didn't work, worked on it with a razor blade, ( mildly) can't find it.  Try the drawing salve :)

I've managed to get metal slivers out with pliers several times, either you have to be able to grab it as it sticks out or cut around it to get in there and get it out.

Good pair of pliers or needle nose can pinch the metal and tug it out better than tweezers dreamed of.

Sometimes tweezers push it back in, ouch!
