Th350 differences

What's the difference between a short shaft and a long shaft? I am looking for a 2wd th350 and found out with a short shaft? Can someone please explain?

A shore shaft trans is about a 6" tail shaft and a long is like 8" or longer

It a 2wd one alway going to be a short? Or a long or can it be both?

can be both but a short is the one I use for 208 just cut 3/4" off. and a long is 9"  and I think came in alot of trucks but not !00% on that
