as the title says  ive been thinkin alot lately about getting out of the bogging scene.  never thought id hear myself say that cuz ive always had fun doing it.  but ive gotten to the point where ive about had enough of  wrenching on the truck and puttin money into it for a week or 2 before every bog and end up breaking at some point during a bog.  not to mention this truck has fought me since the day i bought it.  nothing ever seems to go right with it.   ive upgraded parts as time past on this truck so the breaks seemed less now then before but yet it always happens and always will.

ive always wanted a 71  72 chevy truck  so i been thinkin if i forsure give up the bogging that im going to look for one of these trucks to do a restore on and use it as a silverlake truck and once in awhile drive it on the street.   the sand seems to be easier on the truck then the mud is.  not to mention its alot easier to clean.

but i put the truck away early this year  so maybe not doing anything over the winter  with it will change my mind but im kind of thinking it wont since ive been thinkin this for over a year now.

My bogger sat for almost 2 years and I kicked myself every time I went to a bog.  Missed it but the break from it, even if it was because I couldn't afford to fox and upgrade, was good for me.

Bogged for 9 years, everything from a tracker to a fullsize chevy on rockwells. got tired of washing, wrenching, always getting muddy as hell. sold all of it and bought a hotrod. now that sits in the garage. cant win!

I'm not burned out yet I've never got a bogger out of the yard ==doh always beating the p00 out of my daily drivers...

Sounds like you just need a break. Maybe take a season off?

i pretty much took this whole year off other then the time i spent puttin the new lift in, the 60 front in, and building my high steer and crossover steering.  the only place i ran it wasthe cornfest bog.  it will probably sit all next year if i still have it tho.  hopefully will have a house sometime soon so that will take up alot of my extra time.

I feel the same way. but I got a buddy whos going to help finish my truck and drive/ fix it so I dont have to all the time...  hoping that helps make it fun again.

when all you do is look at the bad it makes it bad look at all the good times you have had and could still have most of the time i feel the same way i get my truck out and after 5 min something on the truck breaks and its never a small issue its big my truck has been sitting for the past 4 months no money but i look at the positive side as my family loves to bog and all our friends out their that we get to see almost every weekend..... i feel ya man good luck on what ever you do tho........

I kinda been having the sme thoughts bout getting out of bogging, but like poorboy said, the good times and the fact that my Dda hardly ever misses a bog with me kinda keeps me going. Then ya keep hearig bout all the people getting harrased with hauling there boggers and stuff. Then the cost of fuel and the boggs seem  to be getting further away from me. Not getting rid of anything yet, but thats my 2 cents!!

the other thing thats got me consider getting out of it is there are really no bogs close to me anymore.  and i hate having to travel long distances every other weekend to go to a bog.  it just gets to expensive   and i know silverlake is a 3 hr drive for me but  i go there a few times every year with the quads and i dont mind hauling a truck out there when i do go.

i think im just gettin bored with the bogging and want to do something different.

Eroq

ive been out of it for a while.... you'll be back, just like i will... prolly gonna buy me a jeep this winter...

BBC in a prostreet Chevy with 18" wide tires on the back... no washing before wrenching. Plus build it right the first time, it will live longer then a mudder. Not so many variables on the street, plus less parts overall to fail. Gotta have a truck/trailer to haul a bogger also :) thats why i got out of it

i look at it like this sure i could have a harley sure i could have a bad ass muscle car but sounds like a  ==doh to me....if i wanna blow my tires off the rims im gonna do it regardless if the popo is right next to me hence why i dont have a fast vechile for the street ;D... def wont turn my back on it.  im just considering giving up the bogging and taking my drive train and puttin it into a different much nicer truck (would like to restore a 71 72 long box chevy) and drive it on the street every now and then and haul it to silverlake.   alot of my friends started out in the mudding  just like the trail riding on quads.  well they all switched and built both their trucks and quads to drag race at silverlake and im starting to have more fun doing that then i am in the mud.  plus i go to silverlake alot more often then i make it to bogs

I have done the same thing I got out of Bogging for awhile and got in street toys.. And that ends up the same want to go faster need more power this and that.. And I always found myself going back to the mud.. And with recent events who knows if there are going to be any mud bogs around my area anymore.. . So one up side it if and when it breaks it won't be covered in mud when you go to fix it
