Went and looked at prices today. Gonna go with matte black from tractor supply $30 a gallon. Not sure one what to use for primer tho. Theirs some 2 an 1 rustolium primer there. But also 2 other kinds. Not sure what one to get. Prolly going to get a small can of bondo to smooth out some rust for like $15 dollars that primer is $5 a can but its only 11 oz so not sure how much of that to get. And if I'm doing that matte black I need the reducer but I don't want to put the Gardner in because I don't want it shiny.. Is that okay?

if you are going to use a spray gun use some thin in the paint.

ShortTemperd

Didnt mean Gardner lol ment hardener. But so ill be fine with just thinner? And I only need 1 gallon? Or should I do more then one coat

Use naptha to thin paint, if this is a bogger I wouldn't use a primer. Or a hardener.

lol yea im not taking it to prom, but i still want it to look somewhat good. i figure im going to use 180 or 200 grit to sand it all down and do a little bit of bondo and primer it all then the next day see how it looks maybe do some more sanding then paint but not sure if i should do 2 coats of paint or just one?

If you want the flat black look and dont have a gun id just rattle can it for now it would be alot less work for ya, but plastidip would be a good option too have seen some nice rides plastidipped and i believe if you dont like it comes off

i figure itd be cheaper to spend $30 on a gallon and barrow my buddys gun then to buy 8 cans of spray for $8 a pop. and im talking to a guy i know might have camo it out? not sure he said he would do it for $300...

dont rattle can it, you will end up using about 15 cans, and your local store will run out, and you will use three different brands of paint, and your finger will be sore and raw, lol. i rattle canned my old truck flat black, and it pretty much wore off. every time you lean on it you get black dust all over you. the tsc black fades into a nice flat black, and if you spend the time masking glass, handles, markers, grills...it should look decent.

Okay good advice there. Now TSC has matte black could I just use that with that thinner to get a flat black look?

Your gonna have to thin it regardless, that stuff won't come out of the gun straight from the can.

Yea I know that I just wasn't sure if I had to use the hardener or not.

by time you thin it you have more than a gal. i would use hardener in it. i use less than 1/2 gal on day cabs. (semi trucks)
