dont some of the serpentine setups  use a different water  pump that turns backwards???

Bryank

well guess i should have went old school. the belt tensioner is screwed already so my belt keeps flipping on an idler pully chewing up a $15 dollar belt and what's a tensioner? about $40  :( oh well i guess.

well serpintine definately is not the way to go! damn sbc is got too much for it. blew p00 all up! lol Somehow the pulley came right off the shaft of the water pump. And the water pump is like brand new.

really? the side that says "front" was facing the front of the truck and radiator. is "front" front of engine?  damn if that's the case... usually on flywheels it says "engine side" or what not. guess i took that wrong. that's the way it was before i got it? bad part is i figured it was correct!

so on an old school motor with a different water pump it goes on the way i had it? for this pump it gets turned around?

nope you can't do that... flip the fan around.  What it means is it's got the wrong fan on it and i need to get a new clutch fan that's made to turn in that direction.  well that sucks it cost me a radiator, probably need a new water pump and gotta buy a clutch fan.  :(

on factory serpintine belt set up, if the pulley has v grooves for the belt standerd rotation. (old school) smooth pulley means reverse rotation water pumps.

Junkyard electric fan is easiest route

i did the same thing on my old monte ss  on a fresh 350

Bryank

well i suppose i could get out of it cheaper by putting the old school setup back on it. the fan would work right with the old water pump. main ass chapper is the nice 4 core radiator toasted! i got a couple little radiators but really dont wanna put em in there with that motor and for towing.
