Backspace question with Dana 60

Im looking to buy some Boggers but they need 15" wheels, what offset do I need to clear for sure??  Ive been told 3.5  or 2.5 or 2 but I would rather know for sure what Im looking for, thanks!

My 88 f350 has massive brakes and 2.5 bs clear fine

2" is the prefered backspace ..

example 's :

An older (80-92)ford kingpin front axle has a larger duel piston caliper..and a dated glide pin style brake system.. 2.5 will work.. but it will make contact with the pad tab's ..2" will clear everything... and not touch anywhere

The newer ( 93-97) Ford balljoint 60 front axle , the caliper is a tad bit smaller and bolt's on , alowing a 2.5 to just clear



hope this was usefull info ... although it may not apply to other model year or brand dana 60's ... I can only speak for fords


I stay away from chevy,dodge ,and superduty stuff....so I cannot provide any info on those clearance requirement's

Thanks for all the info guys, I hate to admit but its on a dodge Dana 60 but I ended up with is after a few trades just to play with in the mud my son loves big trucks. Im strictly a SuperDuty guy! got 3 right now have had 5-6 over the years. It seems to have kinda small brakes, Ive got access to a 2.5 ill try it out this weekend before I buy anything.

Then there is what Marsh racing wheels calls a " REVERSED " wheel. He flips the wheel around so the outside bell becomes the area over the brakes ...then welds in the center...which works very well , and helps to cheat an 1" or so out of the backspace ...

with a reversed wheel .. you can generally run 2 1/2 instead of 2" .

Some also argue that a reverse wheel has the better bead seat to the outside that way... a redneck beadlock if you will

Most are ...yes

But there always seam to be a set of ...." HOME DO....Job's " floating around ....LOL


Hope this info is of some help to someone out there on this forum.....duel duty trucks that see street use ...should never grind on there brakes .....in my opinion
