Strong, lots of aftermarket parts for them, and lots of stock parts for them are easy to find. A lot depends on what you are running for drivetrain. Are you trying to build a mega truck? What direction are you wanting to go in?

I found this online somewhere (pirate maybe) ,

1 ton axle = up to 18.4 x 16.1 v tread

2.5 ton axle = 16.1-14.9 x 24 r1's

2.5 ton w/ up grades = 14.9 x 24 r1's - 18.4x26 r1's

I would have to think if you went with rockwells and could live with that much lift. That there would be atleas one or two guys at most events with spair parts in there stash of goodies

if you go with the f axles.... no one may be able to help a bratha out , at a backyard type of event

If you go with rocks you could sell your tons and break even, like said above parts are easier to find, if you like your wheel speed stay with tons and go to boggers and 4 link it,

Plus think about towing it when its bigger, everything gets heavier and gonna make your truck work harder
Fat chicks welcome IT'S A 2 1/2 TON!!

Alot of the racers are going f106, pretty sure they are lighter, I think that's what singer slinger
Has, and they do have parts available but mostly down south

4link it and run ur 1tons bro... remember with rocks u have to have a 12 inch lift to clear the oilpan on front chunk especially how u drive it lol...im gonna be runnin 1tons and boggers on the new truck with 4link and coils for now
bog  it  like  you  stole it   chevvv  can take  it
if its  2 loud then cover  your ears  damit     350?ci s10 on danas  and 44 boggers  chevvv

Have you considered finishing out the season as is, then invest into lighter knuckles, hubs, brakes ? you know....the good stuff that isnt cheap ...lol . shave weight were you can and stay ontop of the mud, instead of fight the bottom ?

Isnt your motor more of a HP maker than a tork monster ??

14.9 24s is pushing a 1 ton front lol, and all the light weight stuff ^^^^^ is REALLY EXPENSIVE
It won't take long to get $3000+ in a 1 ton front alone with all that stuff, the 14 bolt
Are pretty much badasses already and are pretty much as strong as a Rockwell

one thing I was thinking about as far as  more lift and driveshaft angles  if you are using a drop case like a scs or similar  type the outputs are both on the bottom  so angles are decreased  using a stock case the rear is a lot higher in the frame no matter how much you turn/clock the case too make the front lower   it all depends on the truck wheel base   on mine  the wheel base is 120 inch t case is centered and the drive shafts are the same length front and rear  just my 2 cents

Boggen Joe

My wheel base is 108". I don't have a drop case just a 208. Motor run good bout 550hp/500torc. I don't want to go over a 52" tire. Just really like 4 link .
My truck does very well now just thinking bout upper for next yr
