Hands at work

I will start my first job in the garage Today if my hands will let me.Front wheel bearings on my 2006 Grand Cherokee,I need to get to work on Monday.So with some luck,I will get it done.This will be a test for me.I hope i do well,I miss this

Didn't read it until just now. ....glad to hear your doing better, we have had some mishaps with the 3" mortars but nothing even close to what happened to you.

Musta been the year for that..
I was sitting in a lawn chair up north, mortar came out the side of the tube hit me in the middle of the back went straight down
and exploded under my a$$ in the dirt.

no serious injury but HS did that hurt.

Hammerlane, 3'' and bigger mortars will do just that .5'' and bigger will Kill or you end up like me, but i love fireworks.

yea, next one out did the same thing.. out the side.. hit the camper and fell into my kids tennis shoe..
things got exciting then.. didn't burn the camper down but shoes, carpet and 1 cooler were a total loss.

I can't wait till July!

You must use steel or 1'' thick pvc tubes to do the big mortars that are over 1-7/8s''. Over this size mortars do not come with tubes they are sold buy the mortar and are lit one at a time per tube.With a license from the state to buy. How did you get 3'' mortars and what kind of tubes did you use?

My only participation was apparently as a target and fireman..

wasn't my gig... just on a camping trip over the 4th weekend.

Hammerlane, Now i see you were just having a good time camping with yours, and some a hole that did not know what he was doing F it up for you. THIS HAPPENS WAY TO OFTEN.Good lock on your next July,This needs to STOP.This is what happens when the State lets it go BANG,BANG for the the money. I love Mich but at times a hate the laws they put in place.FIREWORKS CAN AND WILL KILL.

As a member of the State and National fireworks guilds you should be carefull with statements like" FIREWORKS CAN AND WILL KILL". They will not jump out of the box and hurt you. Neither will bullets, cans of paint, swimming pools or any other thing we enjoy. You need to know what you are dealing with and be aware of the precautions and resoponsibility that come with them. If you are buying stuff out of the back of a truck you really need to be careful as those items are not intended for the casual consumer. Any single shell over 1.75" is not legal for consumer use and you need an ATF license to buy and transport it. You need a state permit to discharge. Now im not dumb enough to think nobody buys bootleg shells. Looks of people do, just try and learn about what you have and don't think its just bigger than the legal stuff. Its ALLOT more powerfull than even good 1.4 items.

I build allot of items, own an ATF approved magazine, and have all the paperwork involved and even I was hurt pretty bad by a small item that held a whopping 21 grams of composition. Enjoy but be safe and ask questions if want to do it right.

PS that Mortar ( the name of the tube shells are shot out of, not what a shell is called) is 1/2 in the ground, its over 12' tall. That's a 24" shell we shot in Clare a few years back.

PPS, good to hear your back working on your stuff. My hearing came back slowly but I lost a fair amount of upper range for good and I hate the ringing all the time. Chicks dig the scars on my face and chest so in the end it worked out

Thanks. Paperman, My statement on can and will kill was meant for people that do not respect what they buy, and yes take the precautions for what they have,may it be fireworks,guns,pools,cars,etc,etc.All of this can kill if you do not respect them. Never buy out of the back of a truck, no good can come from this. More people call shells mortars then shells but yes it is a shell.Thanks for the post. I hope it will help us all in July 2015 here at

This went well. just a little longer than i would like it to take.This took me 5 hours. But not bad for one and a half hands. LOL.See you all in the mud this summer i hope? PS Sorry for the off topic stuff on fireworks. I just love them. Look at Paper mans
