i have a 91 motor (new style heads) and a older style intake and have been told i can drill out the center bolt holes to make it fit i was wondering if this is true and will it cause any leaks and if it is still usable on a older style block any help would be appreciated thanx derek ??? ??? ???
yes, no, yes
loll
thanx eric
they do make a intake.. to do just for doing that...bolt in.. no drilling required
you can use your intake. grind out the center bolt holes. have done this on more then 1 occasion and no problems ever happened. you can buy the proper intake from sumit or jegs. heres summits version. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=SUM%2D226016&autoview=sku
JEGS AND SUMMIT = MORE MONEY IM CHEAP LOL
If you are serious about using Vortec heads on an older block you are wasting your time messing with the old style intake. The intake ports are taller on a Vortec head so you really wouldn't gain any performance using an older intake with the newer heads.
91's weren't vortec they were just center bolt ;)

You are correct. After rereading the post I see what is going on. Since these are just TBI heads then it doesn't matter if you drill out the center holes.
i have done this my self and it works but test fit and gring little at a time so you don't take to much out
