I wanted to turn in my H3 in November and get the new 09 with the front locker and highside rock sliders. Maybe if I get a raise I might be able to get some other extras like leather or the low crawler gear. Now it may not even be available. This just sucks. Ive been saving all my money just to be able to get a nice down payment so the monthly's will be affordable. This just sucks, I hate rick wagner. Wish Hoffa were around, none of this stuff would ever gotten this far with the non American cars.
I agree that sux!!!!
find an h1...they are better id rather have a desiel than gas plus you got an all american hummer
no offense but i hate the hummers. i dont like the windows in them. to small looking. but thats my opinion.

I would had loved a H1 but parts are expensive and they cant go the same places the H3's can go. Plus you have to add the lockers (most didnt come with one). The diesels they put out leak and have all sorts of issues. And the good HHMV2's (single cab truck bed) are hard to find. This is my DD BTW. Im just not or will be equipped to own a H1. And the H2's need lots of work to get to the level a 3 is at, but then if you got the money to buy a H2 finding a extra 10k to made it off road worthy probly is not a problem.

Once you drive it for a bit you get use to it. Now when I ride in other trucks I feel like Im gonna fall out. The high windows are functional. The doors are doubles sealed to not let water in and you can ford water rite up to the bottom of the window provided you have the snorkel on. If the windows were lower you couldnt go that deep.
id love a hummerr
I never cared for Hummer 4x4's..........personally I think they are overpriced junk.
Why spend $30,000 (or more) for somthing like that when I can spend half that for a nice 4x4 truck ..............and still have money to add lockers......tires...ect.
Owning a high price SUV............is just a fashion statment for many.
I'd love a hummer tooo... hehe and I wouldnt mind a h1 either but I'm not a big fan of the h2 and h3s

Huh.. hummer ==doh
I..I mean.. bummer ;D
If I were to get one I'd want the H3T the one with the little truck bed. I prefer my old Chevy but they really are not that bad and probably clean up a little better than the old Chevy LOL.
why should gm keep a line of vehicles that have lost over 50 percent in sales in the last year, and that's not including how much they have lost before from the gas crunch. Gm has dug their own grave, they are bleeding to death, and about to trip into it! Drastic times bring drastic measures. My personal opinion is that hummer destroyed itself from the inside. The original h1 was just plain bad ass. It was big and mean, and hard core military off road truck. It was never meant for the faint of heart, and that's the way a decommissioned military truck should be.
The h2, and h3 were marketed to the yuppie we are too cool for minivans crowd. Very few were bought by REAL off road enthusiasts like you, and that is a real shame. You can't pretend you are a hard core off road truck, when 99.99999% of them never leave pavement. In the end it has destroyed any chance of hummer redeeming itself, and will wither and die even IF the economy was stronger. People just aren't buying suv's to be cool, and real offroaders don't want to be called mall crawlers for buying a hummer.
I can also go on and on about how people felt when gm canned Oldsmobile, and it was the same thing. They destroyed the base by building cars that did not fit the history of the brand.
theBroken, while I can appreciate your love for the off-road in your Hummer. creepyjon has a good point. Maybe if more people had taken your outlook on the new Hummers the brand would live on. Maybe you can get a lightly used '08 when you're ready. If nothing else there should still be an abundance of parts for yours for years to come.
i'd get a hummer if i could afford it just not in my budget i got an 02 2500hd ext 4x4 5" lift
dude i havent made a steering shaft for Hummers in... one year lol. its been a year since we stopped making other parts also
for what it caust for a new hummer, i could bog for years in my ranger. and it wouldnt be at the mall ;D maby all the other countrys that have are jobs can afford them ==dnunno its not the guys in here. its the head honcho at GM and Ford and Chrysler. that think the job can be else where and we will buy them here ==no . no one will loan you any money if your not working. maby someone should tell them that. and the olney way they should be bailed out is to bring the jobs back here.
just my ==2cents don't take it personal.
My personal opinion is the only real hummer is the H1.
i'd take a new dodgee Ram over a newer hummer (2&3)... IMO atleast it looks sweet... new hummers look like oversized hot wheels. sucks they stop buiding them tho.. but if they cut it from loosing money then maybe it had to be done... chrysler not makin the PT crusier no more either.

1 year and 2 months ago GM's #3 most profitable dealer was swell hummer TX just behind saturn of troy mi and saturn clarkston mi. They are selling them cause they are worth money not because they are failing. If you announce at anytime that you may sell off a brand sales will tank. They are selling them to get money to save their other brands. Rite now buick makes more than the rest because of there massive sales in china, unfortunately the buicks we sell in china are made in china. All you flint people sould be real pissed about that.

Now wait a second, when the xj was first incepted how many people took them off road? It was not untill they came down in price before you started seeing them out in the woods. Now there were just over 3million XJ's that made it to the dealer, that means if 10% of the XJ's ever built were taken offroad there are 300,000 XJ's being used for off road. There were only 300,000 H3's ever built in the US and 30% are still waiting to be sold mainly cause GM for the 3rd time in the last 2 years are saying they are selling hummer.
And how can you say any vehicle that comes stock with 4 wheel lock is a mall queen? Also the argument that the H1 is better than the H3, the H3 can fit in many more spots than the H1 can. The H1 only has 1.25" more clearance than the H3 and the H1 does not have 4 wheel lock....and with both fully loaded the H3 comes in 100,000 cheaper than the H1.
I understand that a lot of off roaders dont like the little hummer. After owning a YJ and a TJ I can tell you that driving my hummer out to moab any playing on the rocks all weekend is much funner and much more comfortable and safer than my old jeeps.
dude you need to chill everyone had there own ideas on what they like not everyone likes a s-10 frame with a h3 body
does anbody here make parts for them? well i do and it takes money out of my pocket now that we stopped making parts for them. but that was a year ago. f#$% over seas p00. everything i own is built right here!

I have not said anything that was not a fact, yet I sit here reading misconceptions and defending my rig after people bash it. Its not a s-10 frame, they have not produced a s-10 anything for a few years now. The H3 has a very similar wheel base to a F-150.
This topic was about american job loss.
I see stuff here and out at the mounds I dont like but Im not gonna tell somebody there rig sucks or its not up to my standards because its their choice and they like it and they want to drive it. Thats not for me nor anyone else to determine. I would expect to get the same respect in return.

I know they switched the steering around cause the 06 and 1/2 07's were falling apart. I dont know what my 08 has or if they changed the supplier.
ITS A COLORADO FRAME SORRY! NOT A S-10....

Rite, but thats where it ends. They change things up a bit too to make it stronger. You can tell when you ride in both how much stiffer the H3 is, I like it that way thou. One thing they dont list here are the engine mount cups are 2.5" higher keeping with the idea of the HHMV with the giant floor tunnel in the cab.

BUT IT USES THE SAME 4X4 PARTS IN BOTH RIGHT? (DRIVETRAIN) AXLES, TCASE, TRANS?

NO NO NO NO. We have a full locking T-case with anti YAW that makes it full 50-50 or 60-40 which ever you want its selectable. They have the same motor unless you get the alpha then you get the 5.3. The T-case on the H3 has all metal parts no plastic yolks or sunshells and has a low gear in it. The front halfs are a bit larger and longer. I do believe the trans is the same but Im not 100%. The front pumpkin in a H3 is CI where the GMC is aluminum. And the H3 has front and rear locking Diffs. Mine dont I couldnt afford it.
ok I didnt know that thanks for the info!!! I think its great you beat your h3!!! it just wouldnt work for me! (too small) hope to see ya at the mounds some time!
alot of interesting stuff
here ya go hummer guys a vid that i found on youtube.
I love the concept of hummers. But the fact is most that buy them are yuppy and will never see a dirt rd littel alone a trail. They will be gone on the new sales market. There just not selling like they where. Same for saturn and pontiac. There all gonna be gone. Sad but true.
