Had this truck for a few years now but never made a build up....... Shes a 85 K10 Blazer, When I bought it it had a 350-700r4-208 with 10 bolts and 4.56's on a 6" soft ride lift with 35" bfg a/t's. Drove it home and trans blew up, put in a new rebuild on it. Then Blew up the rear end, new 4.56's and Detroit tru-trac. Engine went on me so I built a 406 sbc, 10.5-1 forged pistons, all new ARP hardware, re-man rods, bowl ported the heads, hooker headers, edlebrock rpm performer intake and 600 cfm carb. She rips along pretty good. Picked up a Detroit tru-trac from gearz, and been running it on some 14/36.5 rvt's since then.
Caught a deal from my neighbor on a 60/14ff combo with 4.56's for $200 so I got a hunch to build her bigger. Over the past few weeks Ive installed a set of 12" front springs and a shackle flip with a longer shackle and 2" block in the rear with my old 6" springs so its about 13" lift in the rear (no body) Also got parts from Offroad Design and Big Dog and did crossover steering on her. I also picked up some 16/35-15 Boggers from Jtech and that's what I'll be running until i find something bigger. Shes gonna be my dd in the winter so im toying with the idea of making her a dually so I dont kill the boggers running them on pavement
Looks awesome!!! Thats one hell of a steal for 200 bucks man!!! Wish i could catch a break like that.....
looks good
==cl you dont see many dually blazers around.

Yea I went over and asked that guy how much he wanted for them axles he told me "well I had a guy that was gonna pay $300 but its been 2 weeks, but I'll give em to ya for $200" I just about p00 my pants, I ran my =kma home and got cash that day! thanks y'all, shes coming along good, just need shocks, brake drums and shocks and i'll be in biz!
looks good nice chevv
Looks real good. What a steal for $200.

Bought time you start a project page. LOL Looking dam good. Glad mine gave you the bug too go bigger. Great deal on them axles . That don't happen very offten. At lest not in my book.. I thought you had a bad ride before you started changing things. Bigger an better ==cl
nice k5
Shes almost ready, just waiting on the rear driveshaft, and I gotta make one for the front, get some shocks and she will be ready for T-Day! Got her on 32" rollers for now
Lookin good! Gotta love those K5s!
look nice
Did you take a die grinder too your front shaft an cleaned the points were it would hit. Are you running a double velocity in your front shaft. Truck look's Bad A** . Love the plate. I got MUD TOY for my plate on truck LOL Personal plate just a nice added touch.
I was talkin to BogginJoe when I went over to buy some stuff off him and we got to talking about driveshafts and he told me that if you unbolt the front shaft from the diff and it can swing under the yolk that it would have enough flex, so I figured to see how bad mine is I went home and bolted it up to the t-case, and believe it or not it has enough flex on the shaft that I already had, only thing is it is about 3" to short, To be safe though im still gonna do some grinding. My rear shaft was at a bad angle to so I called up Tom Woods Custom Diveshafts and there sending me one, it got the double joint on it too
Ya a little grinding now will pay off in the long run. I know I had too grind every spot that would touch an you would not believe the difference it made in clearance from shaft binding at weird angles.
lookin good cant wait to see it at tday
Well had to rip the rear axle out to fix the leaf springs, they were bowed in, I i figured I would eliminate the 8 degree shim i put in and beef it up a bit so I did some work to the perchs I got and the blocks and re-angled everything. Ordered my new Eaton rims with enough back spacing to clear the dana 60 calipers, and got the Boggers mounted up. Picked up a extra set off Millser so I cut the lugs off and mounted em on the extra rims to run on the back! All I gotta do is bleed the brakes and power steering tonight and she will be ready for T-Day!! yeahh
==cl
Looking realy good. l like how you redid your lift block spring pad.
Got Her Done! Lil left to do, shocks and front driveshaft but shes streetable, Great time at T-day!

We will see about wheel speed there betterbeaters..
shes a lil heavy to skip across the top, had her weighed in last summer at 6,400lb and that was with the 6" on 36.5's on half tons, now with the 12", 1 tons and hopefully some 44's she might be pushing 7 bills, I wanna go rocks and tractors on my 87 Ram though!

Grant started it, I'm gonna have to finish em, I'll talk to him and let ya know
Cool thanks, i have a set of 19.5-24's i want to cut the snot out of.

trucks commin along great! gonna be a fun summer for you!
dont worry about the small block. Just get her together and work out the bugs and test and tune her. Motors are easy to swap. I built mine with crapy 350 originally and swapped out to the bbc when i got the funds. It's fun even when you dont have the motor you want to. You will have a blast either way. Unless you are bill Gates, there is allways going to be someone out there with a bigger, badder truck. As long as you are happy with it and having fun thats all that matters.

Props to MUDMAN for being the first to point this out...The driveshaft pic is the front shaft but I used the top of the old rear which still had the slip joint on it, I gotta press it off and install the double joint for the front lol

Pretty fun story on that, I had em all tore down tried to do it, tried hammering one out, it screwed up one of the treads so I stuck a lug nut on it to give more pressing surface and put it in the press, cranked it down and POW, I was like hell yea finally broke loose, .......nope ==censor ==censor Damn threads just snapped off, Got pissed and just stuck the damn things back on without flipping em. So I gotta pull the old ones off the front and stick em on the back and put the new longer ones on the front. thats a nice looking blazer you built
Well had a lil issue with the front shaft I built.......seams as if I forgot about the damn Ball & Socket in the middle of the double joint ==doh ==doh so not having it made it real real sketchy, floping around all over...Got back to the drawing board last night and just went the easy route and cut the welds on the shaft and lengthened it to eliminate the double joint up top....One less thing to break. Very nice! When is testing day?
Testing day has come and gone. Ran her at TAMR Comp bog, did ok, shoulda ran the r1's instead of the terra but still had a blast, followed it up the next day at the mounds.....had a great time but truck didnt do so well. Got a escort fro Cory, powersteering pump was whining all the way out to the rock pile, stopped to check it out and the fluid was damn near boiling, I spit on it and it sizzled loll So we were sitting there letting it cool off and a Suburban got stuck in front of us, so I gave him a tug and the trans snapped and fluid started pouring out! Watched the rest of the day and babied it back in. made 2 attemts to get truck on trailer and it started slippng because all the fluid was gone so the old man ran up to get more, we were getting everything lined up for one last shot at getting it on so we jacked up the rear end to slide it over a bit and found out that the weld in the rear axle broke so I gotta tear that down and reweld it! Rough start but its bound to happen on a new rig. Gonna put a new pump with cooler on, and go with a 400-200 combo to replace the 700-208! I'll get pics up asap
You are running hydraulic steering, right?
Yes sir!
Got the 700r4-208 Out and picked up my th400 and Np200! Thanks Mud_for_fun! Time to start Fab'ing up crossmembers and driveshafts!

I did some calculations and I gotta go out and buy 35' of 2x2 steel to build the cage to hold in the new np200 and 2 sheets of 14x30" 3/8" steel to build the cradle for my link bars once there shortened, Not looking so good to be ready for the 4-H fair this friday night!

What is a 200 t case????
It is a np200 drop case I believe it is out of a 1 1/4 ton dodge military truck.
Are they divorced???? What gearing compared 2 208??
Yes they are a divorced case. Gearing I think it 2:1 or close to it..
The 208 is 2.69:1 and the 200 is 1.96:1
Some pics of the cradle Im building to hold the 200

Been slowly gettin back to it, cash ran a lil slow so I had to slow down a bit. Did pick up a 3,200 stall for the trans though, Still lacking a tow rig too so thats another buzz kill but been re-inspired after Perkins bog to get on it and get it done!

48x25 or 48x31... Depending on what I find.
everyone I talked to didnt like the super wide 48x31s said they dont bite enough floating on top... but I would think they would be good!

Would love to see it run! What you are going to be runnin is pretty much what i was changin my truck to, until i went to the planets. You know that because u got it from me lol. Dont let us down. Less Jack D. on friday and more wrenchin. I got a halogen light if ya wanna work through the night. Ya know i have done it my fair share. LOL you went to tgw with me after an allnighter.
True true!! It will be done if I have anything to say bout it! Got the cradle all set up, ran outta steel & need the yolk to make the baby shaft for the t-case, makin a run tommorow, thats a big step!
I'm debating if I should put in that 3000 stall for Al's or just run stock, opinions?
I say if you got time then go ahead. Let me know if ya need any help with it, got a funeral this weekend and working on the barn butbif ya need somethin im there. I'm always there as the tech support too. Lol. Gettin wiring in the barn for good thisbweekend, so bring that chunk over early next week.
Put the stall in.... I run a 2000 stall and love it
Its just a time thing, the trans is in the truck with the stocker, i would have to pull it and swap em if I wanna run the stall, and the compresser is shot so its kinda hard, focusing on t-case for now

Yeah, just get your cradle set up then you can go back at some point to change the stall. Plus, less work means better chance it makes it to Big-Al's!!

What do you mean? Do you think it is too big? That is just a baby converter. All the real runners are way taller than that.

I just have no idea what motor he has in it. Hearing he wanted to put a 3000 rpm coverter in it, I would assume he has at least a little work done to it, no?
Ideally, you want as low of an rpm converter as the motor will work with. You want the wheels to spin at as of an low of an rpm as possible.

not all the real runners have big converters!!!!!!!!!!!!! most or the guys I know with big motors runs a 3500 and smaller!!!
Big converters are only needed with big cams where the engine doesn't make power till up high in the rpms.
Well converters depend on alot of variables. Gearing, motor, application. If you want to do anything but run wide open, then a big stall isn't for you. I know some of the baddest rucks around here are runnin 4500 +. When you see some guys launch and the mud just flies of there tires, like a dog shakin when it gets wet, how do you think they get all that instant wheel speed. My favorite part of my truck, Flash Stall. Of course there are some pretty heavy down sides, ALOT OF HEAT in the tranny, Broken parts, and basically when ur in anything thick you gotta lock up your converter to go anywhere at all, which means wide open and intsant wheel speed, if nothin breaks.lol
I agree 100%.
But it all comes down to your motor and where you start to produce power. If your motor runs out at 4500, a 3000 stall is a little high in my opinion. Those numbers were just tossed out for discussion. Well unless you have a real narrowed power band like 3000 to 4500.
the stall on the converter is variable anyways, if you put a 3000 stall on a 250hp engine it will lock in 2800-3000rpm if you put the same converter on a 500hp motor it wont lock up til 3500-4000rpm.
Im not much for automatics but I'd think a high stall in a bogger would be a good thing, get the rpm's up there before it trys to spin the tires ==dunno my trucks are all wrap it up n dump the clutch :P
406 Small Block, Its got some work to it but nothin to crazy yet, 3000 will drop it in a pretty good spot in the powerband
Truck aint gonna make it to Al's.............. ==idunno
Damn, I wanted to see that thing run
I run a 2000 stall....and it kicks in bokut 2500::::::...I love it
my motor makes power 4500 and up (I have dyno papers to show it) and I run a 3200 its a little dogish down low but work great and I dont have stupid heat in the trans from running in the converter driving it around before I jump in it.
sorry to hear it wont be there...but you gave it one hell of a good try
have a 3500 stall in my truck and my motor just a had a decent cam and valve springs and it worked very well

Quote from: Boggerram87 on November 24, 2009, 07:29:01 PM
Well had to rip the rear axle out to fix the leaf springs, they were bowed in, I i figured I would eliminate the 8 degree shim i put in and beef it up a bit so I did some work to the perchs I got and the blocks and re-angled everything. Ordered my new Eaton rims with enough back spacing to clear the dana 60 calipers, and got the Boggers mounted up. Picked up a extra set off Millser so I cut the lugs off and mounted em on the extra rims to run on the back! All I gotta do is bleed the brakes and power steering tonight and she will be ready for T-Day!! yeahh
shawn is that just a cast block?

that's overkill for Todd's jeep, you could use that to pull Todd's jeep and "no show Bucky's" truck out when they are hooked together.
