Not quite ready for the motor yet Josh, I want to do it right, I won't put the motor in until I get my trans and converter built too. No sence in putting in a motor that will bust up my trans.
what is it going to be

I'll post more pics tommorrow night, I've been working a lot and chasing down a tow rig and trailer. I'll be working on it all day tommorrow and should get some progress done.
Got a couple things done since last post, I cut the stock core support down vs building radiator mounts and fan shroud mounts to save time. Hood is on hindges and hood latch is semi done, Brakes are done, Steering colum is in, and I started wiring. I ended up using the old colum for ease of wiring. This way I can use wipers, brake switch, blinkers, colum shifter till I put in the big motor, and the stock mounts. I'll get some pics of the inside soon, Not much to see there.
looks good !!!
Not Much To See In There.....How Bout All Them Damn Bolts Sticking Up From The Floor? loll Glad Ya Makin Some More Progress, She Was Lookin Spiffy The Other Night

What the hell your not done yet!!!
Been doing a lot of wiring and got it running yesterday, Finished the steering , and got a headlight today. Now I can mount the grill and finish up the core support.
Grill is partially mounted, I need my bumper home to mount bottom.
Steering colum is in, but not pretty yet.

Still thinking Satin black, And still thinking of a name.
Change of plans, Truck is going to be dark blue like the color the cab is already, Probably still going to go with satin black maybe next winter. It is going to be faster to just prep and spray the fenders, bed, and tailgate vs painting the entire cab inside and out plus everything else. I need to get this thing done asap. I have a date to keep and I have a few other projects going at the same time that have the same due date.
Relax Trent, I'll be done in plenty of time to mount your seat. Got a couple things done since last post, Front seat is in with belts(Trents seat is not in yet), Bed and rear bumper are mounted. Sunroof and 2 door glasses are in, Rear pull point is re-mounted. I will post more pics tommorrow

Decided to build Hybrid axles, pulled out the front axle, removed the spider gears and machined the 2.5 rockwell center chunk to accept the old gears so I can run my bigger shafts.
More pics
badass!
sweet!
sweet i saw u had it sitting on jack stands like last week i think
What are the ends from?
Awesome truck! so jealous! :) hey is that mud flaps u have cut out and riveted so ur motor is covered from mud?? i wanna do something like that to my truck but dont know what to use. awesome progress by the way! looked through all 11 pages!
The ends are from my pettibones Jason, and as far as my mud protection Newbie, I used 1/8 inch abs plastic, It is pretty flexible when its warm and easy to clean.
ok ill have to look into that! thanks.
Quote from: TRENT on April 13, 2012, 01:27:15 AM
Awsome, lots of engeneering there, hope the 2.5 ton center section holds up
The center sections always hold up Trent, It's the shafts that dont hold up. With the planets on the ends it will take a lot of stress of the shafts, Plus, I am running bigger shafts than stock. Besides, that is the whole point of this build, To use a center section that I can get parts for just in case I break it.

Oh thats kinda what I thought, are you planing on doin anything to the rear? Like rear steer?
Yes, doing the same exact thing on the rear, Just going to lock the rear steer until I get all the parts.
What's the point of the hybrid axle? Weight reduction?
Quote from: Blazin40s on April 13, 2012, 10:53:51 AM
What's the point of the hybrid axle? Weight reduction?
The planetary ends take stress off the shafts and the center chunk. Plus gear reduction. Plus the use of a center section that is cheap.
not to answer for ya... but.
Yeah ken, but he already had the planets mounted, wouldn't they b stronger then the hybred?? And I'm not trying to be a dick. I really don't know loll
==thumbsup
If he brakes a gear in the stock planetary axle it will be hard to find a replacement. Rock centers are alot easier to find.
^Agreed! Plus It Will Cut Some Weight Down
And you can even go as far as a custom rock center for not too much.
Not to mention better driveline angles and aftermarket parts such as brakes, gurtles, lockers, ect. For example my pinion brakes are 100% hand built, custom. It took me major time to make them work properly. the pinion brakes for 2 1/2 ton are cheap and perfected already. Same reason most of all the monster trucks run the same parts. Plus its fun building stuff, Nobody will have these axles, Built by >ME< ++peace
That's friggin sweet man.
