i dont have air conditioning but just woundering who all on here does. it is too hot to not have ac on in my house but when we try to use them they always turn to ice by the time the room just starts to cool off.
I have two window units..one in my bedroom and one in my living room..keeps the house cool ;D
The key to the icing problem is they have to be level.

4 window unit as of right now 2 on first floor and two on 2nd floor still too warm in the house
The reason why they ice up is because you are trying to cool off an area more than the window unit can handle, sounds funny I know, you would think all the hot air would keep them from icing up but it doesn't. A good trick is to spray the evaporator with brake cleaner, this leaves a slight film on it and will prevent it from icing up. Been down this road before with window AC's.

we have one window unit. im not inside enough to be able to enjoy it tho...
1 window unit and it only takes the edge off. Think I got it for $20 off a buddy a couple years ago so it might help if I got a new one.
Central air, 76 at night and when I'm at work, 68 when I get home from work ==roll
Had mine on 65degrees for a few weeks now
I have 2 window units. one in the living room and the other is at the other end of the house. only use them when i am home. takes the bite out of the heat. I have a central air system just need to get it installed.

Central air. I refuse to live like a cave man. And as for the icing, I had one that iced all the time back in the day for my bedroom and I took it back got a new one did the same thing. I called the manufacture and they said the number one most important thing was to make sure it was installed level. Did that and it worked flawlessly.

just moved the window ac unit from the kitchen to my bedroom brrrrr my nips are froze!!

Central air took a p00 today
no ac just fans one in my bedroom sucking the hot air out and one in the living room sucking the cool air from the night into the apt, and two fans on the floor moving air around. im too cheap for an ac unit, first buying it and second using it. but hey people dont bytch about the heat, because in about four months you will be bytching about the cold, just enjoy the michigan weather.

Im on vacation in mackinaw right now. Haven't had to worry bout any kind of a\c at all
4 window airs 3 in bedrooms and 1 in living room, keep it about 70-72 in here my room is about 60 when i wake up in the morning.
