ok for my sas i bought a newer style ford dana 60. it has the bolt lug pattern so ill have to get new rims for it but wat is the matching rear for one of these trucks? and is there any setback or problems with these axles i shud know of?
i have a matching rear for ya. out of a 98 superduty 3.73 open diff, 0 miles, came off a pallat from ford. rotor to rotor no calipers $200
Usually them fronts ar like a 50 if it came from a f250
The rear axle Ford has used since the mid 1980's in their F250's is the STERLING 10.25 inch, which is a strong axle. only bad thing i've heard about them is parts are expensive, and posi units/ detroit lockers...........not too many options for them, so not many manufactures make em for this axle.........so I've heard.
The fronts in Super dutys are Dana 50's (they are just alittle bit smaller than a 60, but hardly noticable)
I am not 100% sure, but I think the F350's were still made with a 60 front end, but I think those were all dually's.........but again, not 100% sure.
no ford has two rear ends 10.25 and 10.1/2 the f350 are dana 60 in single wheels. not just dually's
f250 superdutey are dana 50s and f350s are dana 50s you just need a rear axle out of superduty f250 or single rear wheel f350
So ford one tons srw's have dana 50 front's?
not all olny the new f250 superdutys 1998 and up??? the older f250s have ttb 50 and most of the f350s have 60s i think there was 2 years in the 80s where thay use ttb in the f350 ?? not sure tho
1980-1997 F350 all used leaf spring DANA 60 front axles.
1980-96 F250's used the Twin Traction Beam dana 50 front axle.
The rear f250 350 STERLING rear axle used is the same design used since the 90's and mid 1980s............only difference is Ford started out with a 10.25 ring gear................and then upgraded to a 10.50 ring gear.
Ford also made the STERLING in SEMI FLOAT 8 lug in some mid 80's 3/4 tons.
and also in 6 lug SEMI FLOAT found in late 90's (new body style) F150's and full size Explorers or Expeditions?
the 6lug was a 9.75 riggear

the 6lug was a 9.75 riggear
thats true, but the housing is the same, only difference is it being 6 lug. GM did the same thing with its semi float 14 bolt in 1988, they offered it in 6 lug and were used under 1/2 ton trucks, and even some light 3/4 ton trucks.
But unlike FORD, GM never offered that in a Tahoe or Yukon like Ford did with their full size Expediton/Explorer.

pics??
the 98 and up superduty f250 thru the f450 are the ones with the metric 8 lug bolt pattern
SRW is a sterling 10.5, DRW is a dana 70
the fronts i had here at the house were dana 70 and the axle joints were as big or bigger than the ones in my 60 front the only reason
i sold them instead of running them is because of the goofy bolt pattern. this rear is the only one i have left

Ford used Dana axles in commercial applications such as ambulances and utility trucks until the mid 90's. The Dana 70 in my rig is out of a 92 SRW E450. They stopped using them in standard production trucks and vans in 1991.
The Sterling 10.25 wasn't around very long before they redesigned them as a 10.5. It is a STRONG sumbitch too, and would certainly hold up to a 14 Bolt. For $200, you couldn't go wrong in this deal man. ++peace
