Title: 1 ton axles

i have a 14 bolt rear and a 10 bolt front , and this was a project truck i bought and havent been through everything yet, but while on a test run i realized my rear end doesnt have a posi , and some friends told me to weld it.. can i get your guys opinions on what to do? i am trying to save money but if its not worth welding it then ill buy a posi..    im still new to all this so i dont even know what exactly i need to do, but a few buddys of mine do.. would like to know about it before i do it.. give me ur guys info please :) GotMud? chevv gmcc chevv

yeah pull the spider gears out, fill in a couple teeth opposite of each other with weld on both gears and put em back in, did that with a 12 bolt, no problems

also the 10 bolt isnt a 1 ton its a 3/4 ton. 1 ton front is a dana 60

if its a road driven vehicle, posi unit may be your best choice, if your just gonna wheel it, weld up the spiders like Jjay 78 said.

If you are boggin in I wouldn't weld the front you will have a lot of problems with breakage, but you will notice a huge difference on how well it will get around with the rear welded or locked

Do like they said,  Would not weld the front at all !
