Who has built their own pole barn/had one built? I'm thinking about it wondering what the approx cost is, who do I have to get out here to tell me what the limits are? My yard is 66ft wide and I don't know what the local laws are as far as how far the barn has to be off of the property line. I'm thinking it will be something in the range of 20x25 w/ 14' walls. Or whatevers close to that that there is common truss's for. Don't want to spend extra to get a odd ball size lol.
i built a garage 28x32 i got 2 foot of block then 8' walls all insulated and fineshed with concrete floor.... just materials cost me $13,500
24x24 is common....post frame would be the cheapest...look at home depot or similar places to have a package worked up for you.
I was told by a couple people to never buy packages, they charge you for a bunch of stuff that you don't need to meet code. As far as size, 24 would work as long as I can be off to one side of the yard but not too close to the line. I have 66x600ft to work with ==roll
There are a lot of codes to abide by. Find out who the local building inspector is and make him your friend. LOL and your looking at $7k+ in materials. Back when I built them it was $7k complete and erected but material costs have gone way up.
i got 14,000 in mine 30w x 48l x 12h i did every thing built it,concrete, insalateted worked in in for two years befor concrete it sucket lol

24x600 it is ;)
Package is the way to go, but there is no cheap route. Shingles are expensive, garage doors are expensive, concrete is expensive...
mine had to be 10 feet from property lines ... mine re 32 x 40 x 12 i ll say i had 10k into it all steel
u probly wont get away with anything but a 8ft wall were u live and i think u have to be like 10ft from any of the property lines but go to the richfield office and ask them they will tell ya richfield could be diff then davison twp is thats were i lived and we had a barn that we built back before they made a ton a rules and laws for them
i built mine 24 x40 with the doors being on the 24wide end it dosent give ya alot of room too get around with 2 vehicles in there too doo it over i would go 32 by 40 im shure more than one of us on here could figure up a material list the other thing i kick myself all winter long is not putting tubing in the floor for heat

whoever told you that dont call them to build it thats forsure. All local building codes vary and the best bet will be to contact your twp.
Also ive built hundreds of them over the years and no matter what size you go they are never big enough lol
Craigs list! Buddy bought a30x40 barn for 2000 but he had to disassemble... Still wayy worth it!
Hmm. Well I hope there isn't a height limit, if I can't go with atleast 12' idk if ill even do it lol.
I have a odd size pole barn 43x58 build on old foundation with concreat floor can't afford to heat it , what ever u do I go with a shingle roof help keep cooler in summer and warmer in winter good luck hey
You can still do it but you will need to get a variance from the township

in my township the height is determined by existing buildings soo it cant bee taller than your house or any other buildings
My pole barn is a 30x72 my ol man built it years ago for about 18,000.00 but in todays world would prolly cost about 28 to 30,000.00
Mine is 30x56..12'6"....shingle roof, steel sides 4 overheads , inside steel lined w/ blown in insulation....was told it was 35,000 5 years ago???
i know around me there is a code of the size cant excide a percentage of the living space of your house, but i cant remember what it was..
That would suck! My house is almost 700 sqft loll
Plow over your house n build a 2 story barn with an aptmnt in back 40x100 loll
davison township has the size limit of the house so im sure were ur at its gonna be the same lilred that area sucks for buildin anything in lived there my whole life and my dad was a builder there and they had the stupidist rules and laws fro buildin
some times its best too just doo it and ask for forgiveness later ;D ;D ;D

not true they can make you tear it down! Like i said still can be done just need to go infront of the building board and get a variance. I built a 40x60x16 in the middle of grand blanc for a customer.
I'll do it the "legal" way, it's getting pushed a couple months away now anyways, found a different investment lol.

yeah... i already have one structure thats cemented into the ground.... I should probably put chickens in it before they come out otherwise it appears to be a shed. ==roll ;)
