Who has built their own pole barn/had one built?  I'm thinking about it wondering what the approx cost is, who do I have to get out here to tell me what the limits are? My yard is 66ft wide and I don't know what the local laws are as far as how far the barn has to be off of the property line. I'm thinking it will be something in the range of 20x25 w/ 14' walls. Or whatevers close to that that there is common truss's for. Don't want to spend extra to get a odd ball size lol.

i  built a garage 28x32 i got 2 foot of block then 8' walls all insulated and fineshed with concrete floor.... just materials cost me $13,500

24x24 is common....post frame would be the cheapest...look at home depot or similar places to have a package worked up for you.

I was told by a couple people to never buy packages, they charge you for a bunch of stuff that you don't need to meet code. As far as size, 24 would work as long as I can be off to one side of the yard but not too close to the line. I have 66x600ft to work with ==roll

There are a lot of codes to abide by. Find out who the local building inspector is and make him your friend. LOL and your looking at $7k+ in materials. Back when I built them it was $7k complete and erected but material costs have gone way up.

24x600 it is ;)

Package is the way to go, but there is no cheap route. Shingles are expensive, garage doors are expensive, concrete is expensive...

whoever told you that dont call them to build it thats forsure.  All local building codes vary and the best bet will be to contact your twp.

in my township the height  is determined by existing buildings  soo it cant bee taller than your house or any other buildings

My pole barn is a 30x72 my ol man built it years ago for about 18,000.00 but in todays world would prolly cost about 28 to 30,000.00

homewrecker john
