I say think before you shoot its not a toy all it takes is one bullet...I have been shooting lots of guns since age 7 and I respect them and what they can do...If some one was in my house armed them thats a different story..But if I see some on my property I would turn on the lights and most likely they would leave but I they didn't just the sound of racking a 12 gauge shot gun would make them  and If they shoot at me they better be prepared to have a few holes in them and the get away vehicle before they leave..................I would not run out in the dark shooting at who the hell knows could have been one of there there friends or family members.

Whatever happened to kids being kids , weve all done stupid stuff, but he had to realize what they were doin and shooting them is not the rite answer, wish we could turn the clock back to yesterdays morals and values that got this country started in the first place, whats next execution for j-walking. times sure have changed alot in my 36 yrs on this earth.

If they are IN the HOUSE or tryin to get in the house  then ill break out the guns....if they are gettin in the shed  i have a REALLY nice chunk of lead pipe thatll put a few dents in someone....im not scared to run outside and beat the tar outa someone messin with my   but a gun in the dark is bad news in my opinion....im not a big guy but ill still take care of whats mine....cant be scared or every crook out there will know and they will be there more often   if the cops beat me to em  then more power to em...but if theyre in my yard  im doubtin thatll happen   they better run fast...

Hmm, don't know what actually took place here, the report could be biased by the reporter..
the owner very well could have been threatened..
how old is the homeowner?
how far away were these teens..  etc...
I am sure there is ALOT more to the story then is being told... so a true opinion cannot be formed.. however..

Hypethetically.. tp'ing the property.. the owner legally had the right (read the castle doctrine law in the sportmens den), morally.. no, he had no right in my opinion.

With that said, if the homeowner confronted them with the shotgun and one of the teens made a threatening advance towards him (again, unknowing the distance) then I believe the owner had the right both legally and morally to defend himself.. but thats up to the courts to decide


teens now days are alot more brash in their ways than when I was growing up.. less respect
for elders, property.. I have had some local kids pull the "you can't touch me, I'll call the cops" card on me in the last few years myself.. however.. I have also pulled the shotgun out 1 time but I did not fire.. the message was quite clear and I have not had a single incident since.. the kids know,, leave the crazy redneck alone    and I live in a small village.

If it was a little closer to me, i would say it was a safty issue. the dude had a no tresspasing sign, so i fugure he ment busisness. the kid got what he desivered. is felony vadalzime(sp?) still a $100? if so 4hrs of clean up @$25 an hr  could change the parents tune. i look at it this way you mess with me,my family or my prop- you are taking your life into your own hands. at 14 you should know better than to deface other people's prop.  end of rant

ive never tee peed anyone, but shooting seems kinda harsh...
i know my wife did some tp 'n in the 80s around holloween time.... times have really changed since then i guess, shoot 1st & ask questions later... good thing they didnt have a can of shaving creme, dude mighta thought it was a rocket launcher,


anything is replaceable, thats what insurence is for,
to shoot someone or to take a life seems kinda permanent
, what if it was your daughter out with some girlfriends tee p'n a x friends house
daughter says shes stayin at janes house & they go out & tee pee neighbors house & gets shot

I understand your opinion, im sure it was probly a frightening thing for the parents to get that phone call, as it would be for me if it were my child, but what if they were actually attempting to rob this guy and when he steped to his door they had guns and fired at him?times have changed alot and kids do carry guns, I feel for any parent who gets a call telling them that there child has been shot, even if the child is gonna be ok, either way it is'nt a call I'd want to get, but I do feel a person should have the right to protect there property and in todays times it could mean shoot or be shot.

You know what, I've been TP'd , I have done it myself, I have had my car windows soaped, I've had kids come through my backyard hiding cause the party down the street got broken up by the cops,

Now there is a time and a place for everything.  I own many guns and I am not afraid to use them, at the right time.  Now as far as I'm concerned there is a point of no return, that is when you enter my house!! If you are entering my house I believe you are here to harm myself or my family....You will be shot....end of story!   

Kids will be kids, now how many of you who agree with this guy who shot this kid have done this or something like it when you were kids.....be honest.... when you were doin' it did you think you should be shot if you got caught?   I think not.
