Nice. And yes blowouts do happen, but I'm sure a blow out at 80mph would cause just as many problems as at 100 with a 33 or bigger.

driving 80 mph is still not legal! and I hate to tell you this but 20mph is a big jump in speed and will cause way more problems!!!!

it's all physics guys, mass times inertia... that's why corvetts and fararris are so small and light, they are designed for speed. our trucks are heavy with less technology in our braking systems, and way less brake per pound of vehicle. it's easier to stop 1800 lbs at 120 mph than it is to stop 4500 lbs at 100.. think about how heavy your truck is. and how long it takes you to stop when you hit the brakes.. now think how far you could be rolling before you stop.... just my .02

Just a FYI for other people who do an axle swap and get death wobble check your caster angle...my friend just swapped axles on his jeep and had death wobble and everything was brand new, we could not trace the problem.

He ended up taking it to a frame and alignment shop with some awesome equipment and the caster was off when he welded on the new spring perches...too much caster and you will get death wobble and too little your steering will not return to center after making a corner or maybe I got that backwards I cant remember.

It is kinda like a shopping cart front wheel...have you ever got a cart that the wheel just wobbles?

The caster angle can also be changed on a solid axle truck too by the springs, say you use a drop shackle of some sort on one end of the spring that will change your caster angle.

Another thing that will cause it is U-joints, you would never think this especially on a truck with manual lock out hubs but when they bind you will wobble. My Suburban a few years ago had this problem and everything was new except U joints...what happened was when I switched lanes or turned the steering wheel at all the front U joints was binding, they need to be able to flex in order to steer even if they are not turning. They would bind just a little and then give into what ever direction you was turning and it would dart all over the road and wobble violently...it literally scared the living p00 out of me.

Im dealing with the same issue... Put a duel stablizer set up on it and it made it drivable, but if you watch the front tires they still wobble...  Ive tryed everything from changing caster angle to duel stablizer setup.. would really like to get this issue corrected, prolly have to take it to a allighmant shop??
anyone know the specs on caster angles for a chevy 60??

I have a 6 inch lift and used no shims on the front axle.  When we put the block on the king pin we put the spring in the wrong spot.  That's what caused my death wobble.  Also got it alligned at belle tire for 45 bux.
