Gotta small thing you do or know of that may prevent an injury

How bout

Thumbs outside the steering wheel: when wheelin, don't fully grasp the wheel, lay your thumbs next to your index finger on the outside of the wheel,  in the event your steering system is jammed ie.. hit a rut, hard landing etc... your steering wheel can turn either direction to the lock position with extreme force.

keeping your thumbs on the outside of the wheel allows you to "let go" just that split second faster, I've dislocated a thumb by the steering wheel spoke before.

How bout you, any little tips??

At our bogs we always give recovery vehicles right of way. Take a minute to slow down or get out of the way and let the recovery people work. :)

KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN AND KNOW WHATS GOIN ON AROUND YOU AT ALL TIMES!!!!!! If someone else is pulling on a stuck vehicle, you should know that and make sure you and everyone around you is clear...if you see something unsafe, say something...
help others when you can...if someone is broke down and needs to borrow a tool, or even a ride back to thier tow vehicle to get thier tools, whatever, help them out...how can you expect anyone to help you if you never help anyone else?

hell I bent the frame on my daily driver trying to get some dude I did not even know out of a mud hole at silver lake........it is all part of the game :)
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways – pale ale in one hand - chocolate in the other – body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO, What a Ride!

If yer pullin someone when yer in reverse, throw up yer hood. I'd rather replace a hood than a windsheild or worse! and if your pulling foward and have a toolbox... flip the lid up. Once again id rahter replace that than the back of my noggin!

I think i was at the mounds once and noticed Mikey duck down while he was being pulled out? ??? not a bad idea in my opinion, until ya start movin

Good one Eroq, this goes for frontal recoveries period, whether your pulling or being pulled. Pop the hood, it's cheap insurance.   I've been known to duck down too before I installed the cage for the back window.

I pulled a Semi out of a snow bank once with my daughter's tricycle.  You can do miracles with a good recovery strap ;)

use a winch if one is there... aways try to pull before you try jurking... a pull may get them out with out haveing to really jurk... aways use common sence when hooking up to someone... if they hook up there end take a look at how they did it, you never know what they hooked the strap too the last thing you need is something breaking  and flying at ya... hope this helps oh yeah and never put a clevis between straps

before going out, make sure everything in the back is secure. i jumped my old bronc and ended up with a toolbox hitting my back seat...HARD!, and the wife got hit with a flying 65 pound dog. this wasn't intential, but it did happened. you can never know what will happen out on the trail. it's always best to try to elliminate the possibilty of getting wacked in the head before going out.

We had a guy in our club spray'd BD and LM last year at one of our bogs doin this, covered them both from head to toe and blasted the inside of their truck.  Was DEFINATELY uncalled for and foolish.
He's no longer in the club...
