I have to say that I appreciate the older topics.  I'm fairly new here and there has been a lot of informative and educational information in the older posts.  I have posted on a few of the older ones, but new people want to feel welcome to really check out the site.  I also think that it's a good way to find out if they are just here to sell something, or if they really enjoy the site...just my opinion.

I think some resurfacing of old topics is good. Look how popular the "What's your dream motor" thread has gotten since I pulled it out of history. Why are old topics annoying. Personally, I think people reasking the same things that are in old topics are annoying. Why no just add it to the old topic instead of make a whole new one that is the same?

Also, there's nothing that says you "have" to read old topics. Kinda like free speech. If you don't like the topic. Don't read it.

I think what mike was getting at was that alot of people are posting smilies and one/two word comments on old posts just to raise their post count/member status and not adding something useful to the posts.

That's true. I can see that being annoying. Definitely a waste of bandwidth. One of those, "If you have nothing constructive to say, don't say anything!"

exactly what i was getting at, you can ussuall go to the photo or video section and the whole first page will be mostly old posts with "cool" or "nice pics/vids" all by the same person. i can see bringing back an old topic in the garage or in the for sale forums, something helpful at least. i was suprised when my ebay post(which i deleted) that i made back in november '06 got rehashed, that was something that would have been takin care of within days of the post, not months lol
