New trucks versus old trucks??????

EVERY DAY I SEE NEW 4X4 S ON THE ROAD. WHAT I WANNA KNOW IS .......  IS THIS A FAD OR WHAT ? I SEE ALL THESE KIDS DRIVING  ALL THESES SHOWROOM TRUCKS THAT I COULDNT EVEN BEGIN TO THINK OF OWNING!!!  WTF !!!   THIS JUST STICKS IN MY CRAW!!!   DONT GET ME WRONG . I LOVE MY TRUCK !!  I FEEL I APPRECIATE IT MORE CAUSE WE BUILT IT,  IT TOOK TIME AND MANY A BLOODY KNUKLE, STILL TO THIS VERY DAY WE WORK AND TOIL OVER IT,    NO ONE HAS ONE LIKE MINE AROUND HERE. IM REAL PROUD OF HER TOO!  WHAT STARTED OUT A THING THAT COUNTRY FOLK DO IS NOW A SHOWROOM TOY FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS ONE.    WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ?

ive had newer, ive had older, i like my new vehicles for the gas mileage... but cant beat the reliablity of the ol trucks!

plus price of parts, newer = more, old =cheap and available!

 Hammerlane, It was not easy for me either.              BUT it was not my intension to bash anyone . I was just wondering if i was the only one who was feelin  jacked up about this.  Im not  hate ing.  Any one who has a ride they are proud of, should be, no matter the status ( cowboy cobbled , factory,  or factory jacked up),,  as long as the tradition of FRIENDLY competition remains, and rubbing your nose in it means getting dirty,       And good people comeing  together to have a blazin good time  and beatin the crap out of your buddies via MUD!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks, in all fairness my step dad gave me a hell of a deal on it, which is why i bought it, but thanks, that pic i wasnt even out playing, i was trying to help out a friend and ended up sinking as well

yea i know a few people that have lifted trucks and cry when they go down a dirt driveway

I've owned my 95 ext cab chevy 4x4 for 5 years, been the nicest truck I've owned, most reliable too, but I've always owned older Chevy 4x4s as back up drivers, and for a trail truck, you cant beat an old straight axle Chevy, cheap, easy to work on.........and probably was paid with by one pay check.

Any old straight axle 4x4 will beat the hell out of some new plastic POS anyday

i would like a new truck for work purposes with the comforts but i love the ease of  trouble shooting and fixing the old ones plus they look tougher!

i just DD my newer ones or use em for parts getters...comfort is the key for a DD for me  dont need to jack it all up tho...save that for the toy trucks

http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/car/756668222.html, there is a 03 silverado 2500 that sits at the local big boy, it is lifted probably 12 inches and has 22's or bigger on a set of procomp x-terrains. oh and it has all the shiny metal you want( grille, rims, mirrors, exhaust, etc.) it just bugs me when people have a vehicle like that and don't even wheel it. Plus i would just rather have an older vehicle any ways. Looks tougher, better, and reliabilty.

     Im with you as far as the guys and or girls that build a truck just for looks, That's all fine and good as long as they don't sit there watching us beating the crap out of ours and saying how much better  they can do it with theres, as they sit there wiping off the dust on there crome, I say go home build something that will be used for what you say your nice clean truck can do or just sit there with your mouth shut and watch the rest of us having fun. Im with the rest of as far as older ones lot easyer to fix, my 03 is my dd and will only see the mud when I just go out and watch...........................
