my 85' ford with dana 60 up front , i had  auto hubs on it since i had it and it s out of a 87 or 88 , i m debating after  those years i finally had the right seal and   driveshaft and i m thinking to bog my truck and now i m checking to see if i shd  chnage it to manual hubs , but i heard the auto hubs  re strong as well  shd i just leave it on or  swap to manual hubs?  what are the pro n cons?

full time's don't unlock they are solid and are always engaged so even in 2wd your front axle would still be spinning going down the road, autos are supposed to unlock when in 2wd.

mine are driveflanges they are a flange that bolts to the rotor and have splines for the axle... but I know there are different ones but I am not sure what they look like take a pic of yours and post it with and with out the cover if it has one!

Yup, manual or full time, i've had auto's unlock and p00 in reverse then lock back in, not good for anything!
<br />Yes Its Fast..... No you Cant Ride it!

ROCK

manual all the way  ==np  you know if its engaged or not and dont have to worry about it unlocking in reverse or unlocking at all unless you break the lockout!

i just looked it  not fulltime . its automatic  so i guess i ll be  shopping for manual lock out for my Ford front 60.. thanks all

Is the truck going to be used a daily driver.......or bogger? Auto hubs arent bad if you dont use 4wd that often, but they arent very reliable for serious off road use.

If the Dana 60 axle you have is from a 87/88 Ford..........then they are Auto Hubs...........the big three stopped using full time 4wd after 1979..............so no drive flanges were used (except for Jeep wagoneer's with quadra track)

For serious off roading you cant beat manual hubs.........or even full time drive Flanges.
