Hi all....I'm going to buy a 1986 Mustang GT thats 400 miles away. I'd like to run a check on it before I drive seven hours one way to get it. From the pictures it's cherry, unmolested inside and out, but I'd still feel better knowing the history on it before heading out and picking it up. Thanks for any help, and if you have access to Car Fax, I can PM you the VIN. -Paul

Thanks 'crazymays77" for going out of your way and helping me out. applaudd

The Mustang was a Navel Officers, and bought new in Hawaii, just like I was told. The car spent all its life there until his retirement from the Navy and he moved back to the states (Wisconsin) and had the car shipped back with him. He sold it to his friend that only put an additional 2000miles on it befor now selling it to me.

No damage or accidents and unmolested, just like I wanted.  -Paul

Well I went and picked up the Mustang, well worth the trip.

All original paint.

Underneath is show room clean, not a spot of rust.

The interior is just as clean as the outside. Look at the door jams. No salt on the roads in Hawaii. (gots to love Michigan, don't ya)

The only bad spot on the car is the "Blacked out" GT hood decal.  The heat and sun made it crinkle over time. You still can get the decal new from the Ford dealer, but everyone that seen it in person said they thought it was suppose to be that way and like the way it looks. Its not peeling up any where, just uniformally cracked all over,(looks kind of cool) it looks like when a desert lake dries up and crinkels.

What do yall think, not bad for 22 years old.

It's a 5.0, 5-speed, 3.73 gears with an H-pipe and Flow Master 40series mufflers.

'86 was the first year for the  GT with Sequential Port fuel injected HO-302.
The SVO mustang had the 2.3 turbo, same horsepower as the GT's at the time, just didn't have the torque the V-8s were capable of.
