A Memorial for My Girl...

For those of you who saw my previous post, my poor dog Maggie died today. I accidently fell and broke her leg on Friday night. After taking her to the vet today for the surgery to fix her leg, we found she had a massive heartworm infection. Being that I didn't have any money to have her leg fixed, we couldn't afford the $1,000 treatment for her heartworms that could have killed her or save her. After much soul searching and discussion between the wife and I we decided to euthanize her instead of risking a life of pain. I wanted to share some of my memories of her with you.

Here is a picture of her when we first found her at Jackson County Animal Control.



After seeing a face like this, how could I have said no. That was back in October of 2006.



After a week at home, we realized just how special she was.



She was great with all of the kittens we ever had...



Loved playing with the cows...



Bart wasn't very friendly, but that never stopped her from bounding with him too.





And who needs a babysitter when Maggie's on the job.



Always a party animal...



And ready with a high 5 if you looked down and out.

I know how you feel about 5 years ago I had a dog that her kidneys shut down I had to make the desision do I spend money I don't have on something that most likely won't work or do I have her put to sleep so she wasn't in pain, unfortunatly I had her put to sleep.

Sorry about your loss.  I have a 13 year old lab shepard mix that is getting close to being put down.  I dread the day because he is a good old dawg.

Sorry for your loss. My family knows what your going thru... Had to put down my daughters first dog Chevy a few years back he had cancer and before we could get him in to the vet for a second opinion it was to late.. Time will ease the pain.. Memories will always be there...
