Your feeling on Pit Bulls

How does everyone feel about Pit Bulls and there bad name.
If you have them lets see em.
How would you feel if they passed a law that says you cant own a pit bull or a pit bull type dog. How would you feel if they told you that you had to put all yours pit bulls to sleep.

had three of them staying at my house one year. i feel in love with thoughs dogs. was so sad when we got rid of them. as soon as i move out im gunna get me one.

I think they are  how you  bring them up.  If you  bring them up mean that what they will be,  If you bring them up to be friendly thats what they will be.  I have a Chow and  hes my buddy, It will be a cold day in hell before anyone takes him from me.

My dog has been in between, we either think shes Black lab and Rot mix or Black lab and Pit... shes shorter than a lab so i figured rot, and she has a bigger head than a lab... does that sound right?

only asking because in the pics im seeing she might be part pit.... dunno. I can get pic wheni get home...

theyre great dogs, ive know alot of people who have had them and love them... its all about how you bring them up.

hell i've got a black lab that is the biggest puss in the world (we adoped him and we THINk he was abused as a puppy).... he'll bark like hes meaner than hell, but wont go outside alone

but..... i still wouldnt piss him off, i wouldnt doubt he'd attack if he had to

heres a funny story, we bought tires last winter at tawas walmart & me & Rex was sitting it the waiting room, a older lady (late 60s)came over & was pettin him & was hugging & kissing him on his head, commenting on how cute he is, then she asked"what kinda dog is he" I said hes a pit/chow mix, she didnt say a word & walked away & looked over her shoulder with a very scared look, she was just kissin & huggin same dog, i hadda laugh

Our Mason is half pit. He is a cross bewteen a pit and French Bull Terrier, Spud dog.  He has his moments.  He was born in my bathroon and raised by us. He has a nipping problem. Like to bite faces.. Other than that he is a great watch dog and loves us.

Dont let a stranger come into my house unwelcomed or your hit.. Or dont play kissy face with him or your face will be a bleeding.. He has nailed 5 people since he was a pup. Now he is 3 and settling down we thought.  I do believe it is the dog and the trainer at times..  I been a dog trainer for 35 yrs and this is the first dog I seen have this ego about him.  His mom was a pure Bully so his spunk might come from her. She bite his tummy open at 3 hours old and I had to stick him up and take him from her or she would of ate him. Maybe he thinks everyone kissing him is trying to bite him like his mom did at such a young age.. who knows..

Love a pit and always will.  They are a smart dog with a will to love and protect..

I think that the temperment and disposition of the dog relies 100% on their exposure, care, and handling. If the animal isn't given enough food growing up, they are going to be a little protective about their food bowl.. if they're raised around other dogs with aggressive tendencies, chances are, they might be aggressive.. i have known a few really exceptional dogs that are "mean" "dangerous" breeds. I used to be babysat by a Rottweiler at my mom's friends house when i was little, and she was the kindest dog ever. I have a shiloh shepherd (german shepherd) and she's the best dog ive ever had. I have friends with pittbulls, and since they werent raised to be fighters, they dont act like one. I think if you provoke any animal, chances are, they're going to attack, it doesnt matter if they're a pittbull or a chihuahua. If someone were to tell me that I had to euthanize my dog because of what breed it was, i think i'd have to unleash the ugliness of the dog owner on them.. FORGET THE DOG, BEWARE OF OWNER!

It is how you raise them......My brother in law has and had pit bulls and his one pit was the biggest baby that you have ever since.....

If you raise them to be mean then that is all they are going to know.......

its not the breed any dog can be nasty are old neighbour and a golden retriever that attacked a kid any dog could have done this but just happens that pits get in to the wrong hands . i have two of them and they are the kids dogs  kids are 5-8 the dogs are 3-6 i live in ontario canada already gone through this mess with the ban on pitbulls it is a sh@@y thing buddy of mine didnt register his dsog now he pays a $100 a year for each dog

I kind of went through that fight with my dad I wanted a Rot and he said if I got one he would make sure my neices were never able to go near it. so when me friends Rot got knocked up by his neighbors lab I got one of those pups and he was fine with it because it had lab in it so it couldn't be mean or at least that's the way his mind works. You can ask anyone that knows me and has met my buddy Jake and they'll tell ya he's hyper but very freindly.

what I'm getting to is I believe some of the temperment of the dog is the family history but most of it is the way it's raised I wouldn't mind getting a pit some day when I've got more room.

I know he's not pit but here's a pick of My buddy Jake anyways.  I know he looks small in this pic but he's not really and he's only about 11 months old.

Personally, I've got no use for them. My g/f was Animal Control for years and 75% of the dogs she had problems with were pits. Now, that said, I don't think ANYONE should have the right to tell me or you what kind of dogs they can or can't own depending on the breed. The biggest problem in this country is that people are convinced they have the right to stick their nose in other people's business and tell them how to run their lives.

we have 2 pit bulls and i'd never give them up for anything! Brigette is almost 14 years and is the biggest freaking lap dog you could ask for. When we brought our daughter home the first night she slept under the crib and has been sleeping with the girl ever since. We had a male that peed on the girl too, i know sounds gross but those dogs never let anything happen to her or my son. it's stupid people that give a good dog breed a bad name. lets put the son's of BI@@@'s  down that do that to the breed or any freaking breed!
