Your feeling on Pit Bulls

i have a pit bull....got him at the vets office i used to work at...he had a hard first 2 years by the looks of him...he came into the office weighing 32 lbs full grown....i think he was a fighter  or at least fightin for food....he is the BIGGEST baby now  he wouldnt hurt a fly...he kisses my 9 month old niece after she crawls all over him  he just lays there waggin his tail...i think they can be changed...i did it...why cant anyone else?   stomp a foot on the floor and hes runnin.....

THE BEST AND I MEAN BEST  dog i ever had was a pit he was gentle but didnt care for black ppl my wife says the dog we have now is better but i disagree he would go to his room when i told him he would do anything we said the kids could climb all over him and no problems i dont care what kind of dog you have it isnt raised right it will be mean  be it poodle  lab chow doberman  it dont matter as far as having problems with them for animal control its because they were raised by incompitent ppl who only wanted them to fight or be mean its not the dogs fault its the owner

if you have kids be careful with any dog you do not know the history of. Get to know the dog yourself first. put it in situations the kids would and see how it reacts (touch face,pull tail, etc.). Take a class on training dogs and/or read some books. I see a ton of misinformed or under informed pet owners. People see my dog in the back of the truck or sitting in front of the post office and ask me "won't he jump out or run away? how do you get him to stay there?" I answer " I train them"(duh) I think a lot of dog owners have no idea that if you have to train a dog to do what it is told. Not just hope that you get a "good one" from the litter.

I had a pit for many years, i got him as a puppy at 9 weeks old, his name was Duke. that dog would play with a red stone brick, chewed it to a nub & then act like he lost his best friend lol. up until the day he died he thought he was a lap dog. my 2 boys could fall, step ,pull his ears & tail & that dog wouldnt think twice about moving out of the hallway. if the kids was away he slept on the floor by my bed, but if the kids or guests was here he slept on the floor at their feet. i couldn,t ask for a better dog.  & now i have  a german rott for the past 8 years & he is the same way. he may lick ya to death tho lol.  so i sgree it,s not the breed of the dog, its the stupidity of the owner that teaches it to be mean.

i/we have had a few pitbulls a couple were shop dogs very nice but didnt like black or old people....also i had a dog that was resued from a fighting srounding she was the nicest dig i ever had

so not true pitbulls are one of the best hunting dogs out there they use em in england and germany they have one hell of a nose and the stamina to run birds

i think all breeds of dogs are great. all dogs are great until the wrong onwer screws them up. i have not had a pit bull (yet) but i have a german shepard mix with rot. she is the biggest baby but you come in the door without someone there to hold her you better watch out. otherwise ill stick my hand in her mouth and she will bite playfully and i know she would never bite me.  but other wise i have a jack russel and she annoys the heck out of me following me at every corner. but i love them both. its not the animal its you.

I really don't like pit bulls.  I don't like alot of the people that own them because they have the dogs to show how tough they are.  The dogs just seem to be associated with scum.  Sorry pit bull lovers (who are not scum), this is just my observation.

so lets ban the scum  not the dogs    lets take the owners of these fightin dogs and make them fight in a cage to the death   then if they dont die throw em to the other scum to get ripped apart

i think its all about how its raised, i can honestly say i'm more imtimidated by a little shizu (sp) than a pitbull, i dont like little yapper dogs they tend to have a temper and this tough ego about them, not to mention i was bit by one when i was younger havent cared for them since, but i honestly think its up to mostly the owner of how the dog acts.

i have a pit mix that was bread for fighting and ended up with the wrong head so the people leddft her to die. she is a grate dog and no one can ever mack me git rid of her, but she dose have a mean strek and you need to Keep that in mind whith some dogs. i wouldnt lever her alone with kids ever or lever her in a rome with a dog she dosent know. but on the same note i had a boxer when i was a kid my sister wouod poke int the eyes and shove stuf up his nose and in his ears all he ever did is wine till some one came to save him

that and the meanes dogs i have ever seen wher blod hounds and coon hounds taht wernt treated right
