It's not free money     The gov't is giving you your own money back.. after they used it.. and without interest..  ie.. Tax Rebate..

Think of it like this:

Loan your car to a buddy, when they return it.. it is
Out of Gas
nasty dirty inside and out
does'nt run
4 flat tires
and was just left in your driveway with the keys in it.

If your ok with that, then I guess you could consider this "free" money..
considering the government took your money and are now returning it with the country
