First of all I am not trying to start a drama thread so don't take it there.  :)

I think we are being lied to about the whole big 3 situation.

I believe the government is taking advantage of the big 3's
financial situation so they can get them to build the type of
vehicles they have been trying to force onto them for years
and the big 3 are taking advantage of the situation to get
a bunch of $$$

We are being told by the government that the big 3 are in trouble
because nobody wants the cars that they are producing because they
are not producing the cars the government has been telling them we want.

I believe that the problem is nobody can get a loan for a new car
so the big 3 have millions if not billions wrapped up into cars
setting on lots that are not selling due to people not being able
to get financing for them and not because they don't want them.

The problem the government is facing right now is the big 3 have them
over a barrel with the job situation because if they go out of buisness
right now there is no place for the workers to go and get new jobs
and there would be a severe shortage of new cars on the market and
that would drive the price of an auto up so high only the extremely
whealthy would be able to afford a new car and the unemployment system
would most likely crash with the extra burdon.

The big 3 do not need a 25B$ loan the people who want and need to buy a new
car are the ones who need the loans so they can buy the cars
setting on the lots then the big 3 would be able to move forward
but this will not happen untill the government gets the control
over them that they want.

( My idea stage 1 )
I say the government needs to give the big 3 the 15 billion loan now
to save jobs now before more people get laid off and loose
everything they have.

Then set up a program where only those with imperfect credit or low income that can not
get a loan now can get a low interest government loan with payments set up
simular to low income housing so they can buy up the cars on the lots now.

( stage 2)
There are several other entities that are trying to get funding
so they can enter the car market with the new gas sipping technologies
and buisness plans that already fit the ideals that the government
has been trying to push onto the big 3.

I say the government should give them the loans they need to get going
right away so new jobs can be created and to create competition for the
big 3 that they can not ignore.

Then a few years down the road when the over all economy starts to recover
and the old dogs who refuse to learn "big 3" will go out of buisness and
there will be several other car companies to obsorb the those who lost
their jobs at the big 3 and there won't be a shortage of new cars and
the new car companies will be producing the type of cars the government wants
and the car companies will not be able to hold us over a barrel like this again.

THAT MUDFIT GUY

i noticed that right after we "BAILED OUT"  the banks is when the big 3 decided they needed money is it a coincidence  or is it fact   FORD is the onlyone who has stepped up and said that they are going to make it on their own but in the order of fairness they will stand by gm and chrysler  in the loan bailout situation  i think  for d is to be comended for that and they are the only ones being honest wit the american buying public   i love the idea of low income families being able to buy new vehicles but they would let them get them and then turn around and SCREW them just like they did on the home buying they have being doing for the past few years  if they truly need it i say give it to them  but the question still remains do they really need it

I PERSONALLY DONT BELIEVE THAT IT TAKES $50,000  to build  a truck so why is it that they feel the need to charge that much to sell one to the people who keep them going  jmo

x3 One of the biggest problems is not their cars selling, it,s no one is buying trucks and thats what was making them a profit. Gas got to $4 a gallon and people quit buying trucks and they started losing money. There cars are not making any profit they just build and sell them to meet C.A.F.E fleet standards. That means the government combines the total MPG of every car and truck they make and gets a combined MPG and if they dont meet it the government starts to cry. And that started the whole mess and now I agree people cant get a loan. My wife just tried and has pretty good credit, works full time and has never been late on a car payment and was turned down.

I also agree we need to quit outsourcing jobs to other countries. And all these UAW workers need to take a big pay cut. The UAW dont want that because they make billions from all the members so I think the UAW should bail them out! The average unskilled labor worker on an auto line makes $27 an hour (FOR WHAT?) pushing a button all day? Fire them all and hire new workers for $12 an HR to do the same job...hell there are 50,000 mexicans in the USA who would do it for $8 an HR.

I agree that the unions are a major part of the problem I just didn't mention it because I know how
pro union some people can get.

Outsourceing is also a problem but not all of it is totaly bad. for example some of the parts are being made by
American owned companies with foreign labor in foreign countries.
Why would they do that? 2 reasons cheaper non union labor,  trade laws that our government is responsible for
puting in place to punish the other countries for not bending to our governments wants. for example if we want to sell our
cars to some foreign countries then we need to make them in that county because we are not allowed to ship them to
their country and sell them. So they say why split the production of a part in half between 2 factories when it is cheaper
to have one factory make all of them.

Yes the big 3 have done their share of greedy deals but our government acting like spoiled children when things do not
go their way and dishing out punishments when they are blinded by their tantrum have caused just as much of the problem.
Just like they are doing now with the big 3. they are pissed at the big 3 because they are not allowing the government to control them so they are punishing them while they can and at our expence as usual.

Even though I don't like ford vehicles I do applaud them for admitting that they don't really need the money.
I am a chevy guy but I also believe that general motors is the most evil of them all as they constantly
give Exon what they want and have helped Exon get control of the alternative fuel and battery technologies
so exon can jack the royalties on the technologies up so high that we can not afford use them.

I believe the unions are the ones that need to take a big pay cut or need to be removed all togather as they are
the reason for the high cost of the cars.
