Last year we was on the budget (gas and electric) and had to pay $250 a month. Come spring they said we owed another $1900  ==censor So I figure about $550 a month Gas and electric. So probably $425 a month to heat our house! Now ya know why we got the kerosene heater huh ==roll My mother inlaw just got a wood pellet stove with a blower and that thing is nice...she has not used her furnace since she got it.

My house cost around $600 a month for heat.  If I burn wood as much as possible, I can get the gas bill down to about $200.

Now you know why I'm building a new house.

I keep the house ( 1,600 sq. feet ) at about 80 - 85.  Burning wood, don't even have the pilot light lit on the propane furnace.  So far, since the heating season began, we have spent a total of about $100 between gas and oil for the chainsaw / blazer and the permit to cut on state land.  I guess it sits at about $40 / month so far!
