it may work but its gunna take twice the power to get the tires moving!  I would run a 350th!

unless your building an all out rail with gobbs of HP then you don't want a PG in a mud truck. that or lots of gear in the tcase and axles and I meen lots.....

sounds like I am gonna stick with the th350...... I keep breaking the damn cases on the 350s. two of them broke by the tail shaft and now this one broke the bell housing right off!

sounds like you are running solid mounts.. i did the same thing.. and everytime i run tractor tires i would break them through the governor housing..  i ened up putting rubber mounts back in

the first two I broke had mated 205s on them...... the last one broke the drive shaft between the trans and the divorced t-case and power loaded the bell housing I guess....

is the power difference noticeable when running a turbo 400?

I'd stick with the 350 turbo, because they are more common to find.

The powerglide hasnt been used in GM trucks since the mid 60's........and I do not believe GM ever offered a powerglide in its 4x4's.....almost 100% certain they didnt.

But case in point...........if you did run one......you'd have to run a divorce mount T-case.........or have an adaptor made to bolt your present T-case up to the powerglide.

If you do look for a powerglide..........try and find one from a mid 50's or early 60's........because they are cast iron......the last version made........I think 1963-onwards had an aluminum housing.

my tranny guy says it takes 10 more hp to run a th400 than a th350.
