Other than a stick weld locker, what is the best locker in terms of reliability, longevity, cost and ease of installation?

What do you guys run?

Good point.  But, even when driving other than the street... have the ability to unlock at times is a plus.  But, if cost was that big of a factor, a spool is a great choice.

detroit hands down...the winner,

just make sure the 14 bolt you have, is OPEN........meaning it has no limited slip or Gov lock.

Because a detroit locker will only fit in an open carrier.

detroits are awesome dont get me wrong, i have them f & r in my bogger.
all i'm saying is that spools are super cheap, if you only plan on bogging
you could save $400, considering mine were roughly $525 each not to mention
the install kits.

This truck spends 75% of it's time as a DD. I had thought about a spool. With the killer deal I got on my tires I can afford to have them wear out a little faster. I just don't want it to have too bad of manners on the street for when Heather drives it.

Now, what's your thoughts on buying a used locker? I saw one on Craigslist for $200.

then you dont want a spool.  Spend the extra couple bucks and get the Detroit.

My old dd Suburban with a Detroit in the 14 and 33s was totally fine on the street.  Would only chirp when I got on it going around a turn.

Now, myCJ7 with a welded rear end was horrible on the street.  It would push the front when you turned and turning radius was almost doubled.  And tire wear will be excessive.

Just check it over good.  Detroits are pretty damn durable.
