I own a 1950 GMC pick up I have been considering converting to 4 wheel drive for a daily driver.  I don't know if it would be easier to convert the current frame or to go ahead and put the body on a 4x4 frame.

OR

I have been wanting a 1967-1972 Chevy/Gmc truck that is a 4x4 for a daily driver/tow rig. I have been having trouble finding a 4x4 model in my price range. Has anyone converted one these  from 2wd to 4wd? If so did you convert the current frame or do a frame swap?

Thanks, Matt

done both. it comes down to what you can find for part  at $$. at the gr autorama their was a '62 chevy panal that they fliped the axle to the bottem of the arms inback(still on coils) and did a street rod coil over in the front with radis arms. well done set up. it will be the way i'll do my next 60-72 4x4 conversion
for the '50 the only way to go for a daily is an s10 frame swap. the reason cheap, power stering, a v8 goes right in, will look close to stock when done.
i have a '71 3/4 long 4x4 i'll sell but it needs work, but i dont think it will make a good tow rig.

if you are going to use it for a tow rig i would get a diderant frame we did the two wheel frame and it brock teh frame on the way to silver lake thats not a place you would like to be on the road with a trailer and a junk truck
its not what you buy its what you build
