Continuing on with the drama of the camo truck's starter...

Which style starter brace will fit my truck? It's an '85 K10, 350, TH350.

http://tinyurl.com/ar6kaj This one just syas it's for a small block.

http://tinyurl.com/d6j73c This one says it's for big or small block.

http://tinyurl.com/aqcy38 This one says it's for a Camaro or Malibu with a 350.

All 3 are differant styles and loengths from what I can tell. So which one would work on a truck? Can somebody who has a bracew on their starter snap a quick picture so i can see what it looks like installed?  I've been googling and have found out a bunch of people have had similar problems with their 350 starters as I'm having. Weird since this is the 20th or so car I've had with a 350 and never had this problem!

what do you need a brace for I have never had a brace on any of mine and we useually tell people to throw the stock brace away . what is the starter actually doing? Maybe I can give you an idea then. My parents own a starter shop

This is the original thread from the problem. Replaced the pinion gear, didn't help. Mounted in every combination of shims I have, didn't help. Replacing flywheel next and gear one more time to see if the duo will fix. Did some research online and have heard alot of people say that the brace helped theirs out alot. Others say didn't help at all. For $8 figure it'd be cheap insurance if one would work.

I have had to put them on before and it helps, It's really hit or miss as far as what ones need it and what ones don't. I've even made my them myself with a piece of 1/8x1" flat stock.

heres best pictures i could get

==cl Sweet, that helps alot. Now I can put two and two together. Never saw one installed before. I think I'll grab one like that. Do the other ones attach to the same place? ie. can I mount more than one brace for extra insurance?

I was having the same problem with the one in my old step side, I changed starter, fly wheel, and put in new starter bolts...seemed to fix the problem. just an idea

the stock braces MAY not work with your starter since you said you've got a mini starter but now that you see how it works do what I did and get a piece of 1/8x1" flat steel and put a bend and a twist in it along with a couple holes and your good to go....  ==2cents

just make  sure  you  good and tight,  you shouldn't need  any  brace on them,  but if you do   you  mite have to make your own.

Here's my next question. I have three bolt holes on my starter and three holes in my block. Would it be worth it to put a third bolt in? Would that maybe add enough bracing?
